Research group at the Department of Informatics, University of Fribourg
(Switzerland). Our research group is active in structural and
algorithmic graph theory, combinatorial optimization and mathematical

The successful candidate will conduct research on structural and
algorithmic aspects of graph theory. The specific research projects will
be defined collaboratively with the PhD student, based on their
interests and skills, and the project's alignment with the group's
research scope.
As a PhD student, the candidate will have teaching responsibilities at
both the bachelor and master levels. In particular, they will lead
exercise sessions for various courses, supervise student projects, and
assist with administrative tasks.
The PhD position is fully funded. The starting date is August 1, 2025,
but a later date may be considered. We offer a competitive gross salary
starting at CHF 61'000 per year.
The PhD student will also have the opportunity to attend international
conferences and collaborate with leading experts through our network of
academic collaborations.
The candidate should hold a Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer
Science, or a closely related field. A very good knowledge of English
(both spoken and written) is required.
