COVID UPDATE


Given the unprecedented global situation due to the novel coronavirus
pandemic, we are making backup plans for an online conference. We will keep
open the possibility of an in-person meeting as long as possible, and will
decide on the exact form of the conference later.


To address the concerns of authors who may not want to travel this year,
we guarantee that the option of presenting their paper remotely will be
made available to them no matter which form the conference takes (physical or
online).

FSTTCS 2020 is the 40th conference on Foundations of Software Technology
and Theoretical Computer Science. It is organised by IARCS, the Indian
Association for Research in Computing Science. It is a forum for
presenting original results in foundational aspects of Computer Science
and Software Technology.

Submissions must not exceed 12 pages (excluding bibliography), but may

Publication
===========


Accepted papers will be published as proceedings of the conference in
the Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatics (LIPIcs) as a free,
open, electronic archive with access to all. Authors will retain full
rights over their work. The accepted papers will be published under a
CC-BY license. For an accepted paper to be included in the proceedings,
one of the authors must commit to presenting the paper at the conference.

Abstract. Permutation groups are often best understood by the
structures they preserve on the underlying point set. For example, several
families of maximal subgroups of finite symmetric groups arise as
stabilisers of subsets, or partitions, or Cartesian decompositions of the
point set. Among the finite primitive groups, one family (apart from the
almost simple groups) resisted such a description until now, namely the
maximal simple diagonal groups. We introduce the concept of a diagonal
structure associated with any group T, finite or infinite, and any integer
m at least 2. We prove that the stabiliser of the diagonal structure is
precisely the corresponding diagonal group, and that this group is
primitive essentially when T is characteristically simple.

This work began as a collaboration with Csaba Schneider, and over the past
almost two years the collaboration includes also R. A. Bailey and Peter
Cameron. We have introduced also a diagonal graph, built from a collection
of Hamming graphs: its automorphism group is the diagonal group. And there
are close connections with Latin squares, and with certain kinds of higher
dimensional Latin hypercubes. We continue to learn more about the
combinatorial links.

SCOPE

ALGOCLOUD is an annual international symposium aiming to tackle the diverse new topics in the emerging area of algorithmic aspects of computing and data management in modern cloud-based systems (which are broadly defined so as to include edge- and fog-based systems, cloudlets, cloud micro-services, as well as virtualization environments).

ALGOCLOUD aims at bringing together researchers, students, and practitioners to present research activities and results on topics related to algorithmic, design, and development aspects of modern cloud-based systems. ALGOCLOUD 2020 is co-located with ALGO 2020, a leading international event of researchers working on algorithms and their engineering.

ALGOCLOUD welcomes submissions on all theoretical, design, and implementation aspects of modern cloud-based systems. ALGOCLOUD is particularly interested in novel algorithms in the context of cloud computing, cloud architectures, as well as experimental work that evaluates contemporary cloud approaches and pertinent applications. ALGOCLOUD also welcomes demonstration manuscripts, which discuss successful system developments, as well as experience/use-case articles and high-quality survey papers. Contributions may span a wide range of algorithms for modeling, practices for building and techniques for evaluating operations and services in a variety of systems, including but not limited to, virtualized infrastructures, cloud computing platforms, edge computing platforms, fog computing platforms, datacenters, cloud-storage options, cloud data management, non-traditional key-value stores on the cloud, and HPC architectures.

[DMANET] Postdoc position in algebraic combinatorics and discrete geometry at TU Graz Austria

Postdoc position in algebraic combinatorics and discrete geometry.

The Institute of Geometry at the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz)
in Austria invites applications for a postdoc position. The successful
candidate will be associated to the FWF funded project ``Diagonal
harmonics, Hopf algebras, and polytopes'' of Cesar Ceballos.

The position is up to 2 years with a gross monthly income of 3.889,50
EUR (14x a year). The starting date is February 1st, 2021, or later.

The candidate must exhibit a strong background and track record on
algebraic combinatorics and/or discrete geometry. Previous knowledge of
topics related to diagonal harmonics, representation theory, polytope
theory, and programming skills are desirable but not completely
necessary.

[DMANET] [CFP] 1st Workshop on Cyber Forensics & Advanced Threat Investigations in Emerging Networks

1st International Workshop on Cyber Forensics and Advanced Threat
Investigations in Emerging Networks (CFATI 2020)

CFATI 2020 will be held in conjunction with the 11th International
Conference on Emerging Ubiquitous Systems and Pervasive Networks
(EUSPN 2020) which is co-organized on November 2-5, 2020, Madeira,
Portugal.

Scope of the workshop:

The main motivation for this Workshop is to bring together researchers
and practitioners working on cyber forensics and threat investigations
for emerging networks to disseminate current research issues and
advances. Original technical papers describing new, state-of-the-art
research will be considered. The Workshop welcomes submissions that
evaluate existing research results by reproducing experiments. The aim
of this workshop is to provide insight for the discussion of the major
research challenges and achievements on various topics of interest.

Papers on practical as well as on theoretical topics and problems in
various topics related to cyber forensics and threat investigations
are invited, with special emphasis on novel techniques and tools to
collect data from networked devices and services in emerging networks
(such as the ones can be found in cyber-physical systems and Internet
of things). Topics include (but are not limited to):

· Advanced threat investigations, forensic and anti-forensic techniques
· Cooperative and distributed forensics and threat investigations
· Data exfiltration techniques from networked devices and services
(e.g. cyber-physical systems, and Internet-of-Things)

All papers accepted for the workshop will be published by the
prestigious Elsevier Procedia Computer Science, indexed by Scopus,
Engineering Village (Ei), and DBLP. The authors must follow Elsevier

About PPGC / UFRGS

PPGC/UFRGS is one of the largest, oldest, and most comprehensive
graduate programs in Computing in Brazil. Rated with the
maximum grade by CAPES (7 on a scale from 1 to 7), PPGC is the top Program in
the South of Brazil, and it is among the best
postgraduate programs in Computing in the country. The Program has 47 years
of activity, having already graduated more than 2000 MSCs and PhDs.
With 58 faculty members, PPGC constantly figures in the main international
and national events in the area. We also maintain collaboration projects with
several internationally renowned universities.
In 2019, 26 of our students took an internship abroad. Also, in 2019, we

[DMANET] 2 PhD positions on Robust and Explainable AI for Space Applications

Dear Colleague,

as part of the Strathclyde Center for Doctoral Training on Explainable AI for Industrial Decision Support, we are looking for 2 PhD candidates on the subject "Robust and Explainable Satellite Mission Planning and Scheduling" with a background/interest in combinatorial optimisation, planning, natural language processing and computational argumentation.

The two PhD positions are in collaboration with the European Space Agency, so successful candidates will have the opportunity to spend a period of 6 months/1 year as research visitor at ESA research and technology centre.

PhD students are due to start in October 2020, however flexible starting date can be arranged. The scholarship is for 3.5 years and it is fully funded only for UK/EU students. International students willing to apply will need to provide matching tuition fee funds.

After assessment of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the ESORICS 2020 Organizing
Committee has made the decision to move the conference and all

SCOPE
======

DPM is an annual international workshop covering research in data
privacy management. Organizations are increasingly concerned about the
privacy of information that they manage (as witnessed, for example, by
lawsuits filed against organizations for violating the privacy of
customer's data). Thus, the management of privacy-sensitive information
is very critical and important for every organization.

This poses several challenging problems, such as how to translate the
high-level business goals into system-level privacy policies,
administration of privacy-sensitive data, privacy preserving data
integration and engineering, privacy preserving access control
mechanisms, information-oriented security, and query execution on
privacy-sensitive data for partial answers. Starting from these
observations, the aim of DPM is to discuss and exchange ideas related to
data privacy management. We invite papers from researchers and
practitioners working in privacy, security, trustworthy data systems and
related areas to submit their original papers in this workshop.
Submissions by PhD students as well as controversial ideas are
encouraged. Case studies (successful or not) are also encouraged.

Submitted papers must not substantially overlap papers that have been
published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a
conference with proceedings. Papers can be submitted as Full Papers or
Short Papers. Full papers should be at most 16 pages in the LNCS format,
including the bibliography and well-marked appendices. Short papers
should be at most 8 pages in the LNCS format, including the bibliography
and well-marked appendices. Program Committee members are not required
to read the appendices, so papers should be intelligible without them.

Authors should indicate whether their paper is a short paper to
differentiate them from full papers. All submissions must be written in
English. It is planned to have accepted papers published by Springer in
the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series, the LNCS template
can be found at:

Authors must submit their papers by the indicated deadline, using the

at the beginning of the lunch break on Friday, July 10. After brief

ALGOSENSORS 2020 is an international symposium dedicated to the algorithmic
aspects of wireless networks co-located with ALGO 2020. The ALGOSENSORS
symposium aims to bring together research contributions related to diverse
algorithmic aspects of sensor networks, wireless networks as well as
distributed robotics, both from a theoretical and an experimental
perspective. This year ALGOSENSORS has three tracks:

Each paper will be initially submitted to a single track but will be
handled by the same program committee. The program committee will make sure

[DMANET] Ph.D. at INRIA Sophia Antipolis

Dear all,

We are looking for a motivated student interested in pursuing a PhD on
leveraging algorithmic techniques to improve the efficiency of
artificial neural networks. Possible themes include (but are not limited
to): training algorithms for neural networks on distributed models,
compressing the network via pruning and weight-sharing strategies,
designing transfer-learning algorithms which combine and adapt
pre-trained models to new tasks, and investigating theoretical
principles behind neural network generalization.

The ideal candidate has a solid background in algorithmic areas of
theoretical computer science and a strong motivation to become an expert
on aspects of artificial neural networks.

The position is at INRIA Sophia Antipolis Méditerranée, located near
Nice, France, in the beautiful area of the Côte d'Azur. The candidate
will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the IRIF Laboratory
in Paris, and visit it regularly.

The position is available until filled. The starting date is around

Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to participate in the first Workshop on the
Distortion and Information-Elicitation Tradeoffs (DIET), which will be held
online in conjunction with the 21st ACM Conference on Economics and
Computation (EC 2020). The workshop will take place on 20-22 July
(Monday-Wednesday) with live presentations on a zoom meeting (approximately
3 hours per day). The presentations will be recorded and will be available
to the participants at any time, during and shortly after the workshop.

Scope:

In 2006, Procaccia and Rosenschein considered the setting in which the
agents have explicit numerical values for the possible outcomes, yet they
only report their linear orderings over them. To compare different
aggregation mechanisms, they introduced the notion of distortion, which
quantifies the inefficiency of using only ordinal information when trying
to maximize the social welfare, i.e., the sum of the underlying values of
the agents for the chosen outcome. Since then, this research area has
flourished (counting more than 30 published papers in EC, AAAI, IJCAI, and
NeurIPS) and bounds on the distortion have been obtained for a wide variety
of fundamental scenarios.

This workshop will serve as a platform for presenting some of the most
influential work on distortion and also recent developments on the
tradeoffs between information and efficiency. The goal is to initiate
interesting discussions and collaborations by bringing together researchers
with significant contribution to the literature of distortion, and people
who are interested in familiarizing themselves with the topic.
