Internship Position on Novel Computing
Los Alamos National Laboratory
=======================================
The Information Sciences group at the Los Alamos National Laboratory has current internship openings for the summer of 2020. The selected candidates will work both independently and in a team environment on theoretical and applied computer science approaches to novel computing paradigms with special focus on quantum algorithms, including quantum annealing, quantum optimization, and quantum machine learning.
Previous experience with quantum computing is a plus but not a requirement. Mathematical aptitude, implementation skills, and enthusiasm to learn about quantum computing are equally crucial. LANL has a history of ground-breaking achievements in quantum computing and it is currently hosting one of the few available D-Wave 2000Q quantum annealing computers.
The successful candidate will be expected to
1. Develop theoretical and computational algorithms, methods, and tools for quantum computers;
2. Develop and test methods for exploiting near-term quantum computing technologies;
3. Communicate research results through reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
US citizenship is NOT required for this position.
Interested candidates should send their CVs and a short statement of research interests to Hristo Djidjev, djidjev@lanl.gov.
