[DMANET] Call for Papers - PATAT 2020: 13th International Conference on the Practice and Theory of Automated Timetabling

Call for Papers

---------------------

PATAT 2020

13th International Conference on the Practice and Theory of Automated
Timetabling

Bruges, Belgium, August 25-28, 2020

Conference website: http://patatconference.org/patat2020/

Submission link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=patat2020

Submission deadline: February 28, 2020

---------------------

In more ways than one, 1995 was a momentous year: a small startup by the
name of Amazon sold its first book online, the first ever Wiki was launched,
and the Java programming language was announced to the world. But far more
importantly (some might say), the year also played host to the very first
PATAT conference in Edinburgh. The 2020 edition of PATAT will therefore mark
its silver anniversary. Organized by KU Leuven and to be held in beautiful
Bruges (Belgium) August 25-29, 2020, PATAT 2020 promises to provide the
perfect setting for researchers and practitioners to reflect on the
substantial progress made by the timetabling academic community over the
last twenty-five years as well as to anticipate where we might head
throughout the next twenty-five. To complement this historical reflection
and anticipation of the future, a range of exciting plenary talks will be
given by experts in established areas of timetabling as well as newly
emerging ones.

We therefore wish to extend a warm invitation to anyone with an interest in
timetabling or related problems to participate by submitting a paper by
February 28, 2020. Some topics of interest for the conference include, but
are certainly not limited to, the following: timetabling problems,
timetabling algorithms, timetabling applications, and any optimization
problems related to timetabling.

We are proud to announce that the following professors will deliver plenary
talks:

* Celso C. Ribeiro, Computer Science, Universidade Federal Fluminense,
Brazil

* Sigrid Knust, Institut für Informatik, Universität Osnabrück, Germany

* Andrea Schaerf, Computer Science, University of Udine, Italy

* Deepak Ajwani, School of Computer Science, University College Dublin,
Ireland

* Peter Nightingale, Department of Computer Science, University of York, UK

We look forward to welcoming you to Bruges where you will able to sample
some of the finest versions of the very best things life has to offer.

A special track will be dedicated to the International Timetabling
Competition (ITC 2019 - https://www.itc2019.org). The competition aims to
motivate further research on complex university course timetabling problems
coming from practice. Rich data sets from universities around the world have
been created for the competition. The competition is organized with the
support of PATAT, which welcomes any papers related to ITC 2019 in this
special track. Generally, these papers can be dedicated to some aspects of
all or to selected competition problems, their solution approaches as well
as modeling issues. Papers discussing ITC 2019 in the context of former
competitions are also of interest. The aim is to bring together timetabling
researchers and practitioners from all the disciplines who are interested in
the competition, its current status, or a further extension of the
university course timetabling inspired by the ITC 2019.

*BAT 2020 CFP*

A blockchain is a distributed ledger for recording transactions and/or data
in a meaningful order, maintained by many connected nodes without a trusted
central authority. Blockchain has a great potential to create new
foundations for most distributed systems by efficiently establishing trust
among nodes, especially in emerging networks. Such a fundamental technology
to enable decentralization play an important role in a wide spectrum of
topics such as Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), edge
computing, cloud computing, fog, mobile computing, social networking,
wireless communication, vehicular network, and even more other fields. At
the same time, there is a lack of fundamental study on the limitation of
blockchain such as scalability, security, privacy, efficiency, availability
and dependability. Hence, the development and deployment of
blockchain-based systems and applications will likely exhibit new
requirements and complicated challenges, which brings more open issues and
exciting directions for research communities.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners
working in cloud computing, distributed systems, cryptography, security,
and networking, from academia and industry, who are interested in the
applications and theory of blockchains and related protocols.

Researchers are encouraged to submit original research contributions in all
major areas, which include, but not limited to:

* Theories of blockchain and distributed ledger technology

* Distributed data store for blockchain

* Distributed transaction for blockchain

* Distributed consensus and fault tolerance mechanism

* Blockchain in cloud computing

* Blockchain in mobile and edge computing

* Deployment and feasibility study in emerging networks such as VANET,
connected vehicles

* Blockchain in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

* Blockchain and Financial Networks

* Blockchain in vehicular network

* Blockchain in the Internet of things (IoT)

* Blockchain in Cyber Physical Systems (CPS)

* Blockchain in social networking

* Blockchain in supply chain management

* Blockchain in connected and autonomous vehicles

* Blockchain in mobile cellular networks

* Blockchain and governance/policy/regulation

[DMANET] 3rd CFP: SWAT 2020: The 17th Scandinavian Symposium and Workshops on Algorithm Theory, Torshavn, Faroe Islands, June 22-24, 2020

CALL FOR PAPERS

Paper Submission Deadline: February 14, 2020 (anywhere on Earth)

https://easychair.org/cfp/swat2020

SWAT 2020: 17th Scandinavian Symposium and Workshops on Algorithm Theory
Vestarabryggja 15, Torshavn, Faroe Islands, June 22-24, 2020
https://www.setur.fo/en/education/swat-2020/

The Scandinavian Symposium and Workshops on Algorithm Theory (SWAT), which alternates with the Algorithms and Data Structures Symposium (WADS), is a forum for researchers in the area of design and analysis of algorithms and data structures.

We invite submissions of papers presenting original research on algorithms and data structures. Though we welcome experiments, the theoretical results in the articles will be the main measure for evaluating their merits. Algorithmic approaches of interest include, but are not limited to: approximation algorithms, parametrized algorithms, distributed algorithms, parallel algorithms, external-memory algorithms, data structures, exponential time algorithms, online algorithms, randomized algorithms, streaming algorithms, sub-linear algorithms. The algorithmic problems considered may be motivated by applications, e.g. in optimization, geometry and topology, graph analysis, bioinformatics, visualization, string processing, information retrieval, machine learning, algorithmic game theory, or mechanism design.

Contributors must submit their papers using the Easychair system Submissions (https://easychair.org/cfp/swat2020) should be in LIPIcs format (without font size, margin, or line spacing changes), and not exceed 12 pages including front page and references. See www.dagstuhl.de/publikationen/lipics/anleitung-fuer-autoren<http://www.dagstuhl.de/publikationen/lipics/anleitung-fuer-autoren> for instructions. Additionally, if full details of proofs do not fit into the page limit, a clearly marked appendix containing the remaining details must be included; this appendix will not be regarded as part of the submission and will be considered only at the discretion of the program committee. Submissions deviating substantially from this format risk rejection without consideration of their merits.

Papers submitted for review should represent original, previously unpublished work. At the time the paper is submitted to the symposium, and for the entire review period, the paper (or essentially the same paper) must not be under review by any other conference with published proceedings or by a scientific journal. However, we encourage authors to make a preprint of their paper available at a public repository such as arXiv. At least one author of every accepted paper is expected to register and present the paper at the symposium. Symposium proceedings will be published in the "Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatics" (LIPIcs) series. A prize will be awarded to the author(s) of the best student-authored paper. A paper is eligible if all of its authors are full-time students at the time of submission. This must be indicated in the submission process.

This is thus the final call for all operations researchers interested in attending the event to submit your abstracts now.

General information about the event follows.

The IFORS 2020 conference will highlight global developments in operations research and show how the tools of operations research are expanding their impact on society, health, science and industry. IFORS conferences, held only once every three years, provide a platform for experts from around the world to showcase the diverse potential of state-of-the-art operations research techniques and technologies. IFORS 2020 offers a unique opportunity to network with operations research analysts, industrial users of operations research, and academic and industry experts from all parts of the globe.

This is the first IFORS conference to be held in Asia since the 15 th conference in China 20 years ago. It is thus an exciting opportunity to bring together operations researchers from the field in Asia, where it has experienced vigorous and rapid growth, with colleagues from all regions of the world.

The conference includes a Wednesday-afternoon social event where you can choose among a variety of tours, such as the Demilitarized Zone tour, where you can witness the history of Korea's division, the Industrial Tour to Korea's leading ICT companies, as well as other programs that will explore K-POP and Hallyu, K-Beauty and K-Culture, and show you the most historic buildings and markets in the city.

The timing of the meeting in late June assures that it will be warm and sunny.

Four plenary speakers headline the scientific program:

- Gang Yu, who is co-founder and CEO of 111, Inc and previously head of world-wide supply chain for Amazon, VP for worldwide procurement for Dell, Inc and CEO of Yihaodian, a leading ecommerce company in China;
