Each year, the Research Foundation Flanders (Belgium) (FWO), opens a call for postdoctoral fellowships of 3 years. The deadline for applications is December 1st, 2020, 5pm CET. The starting date for such a fellowship is October or November 1st, 2021.
To be eligible for the junior fellowship, candidates should have obtained their PhD not longer than 3 years (36 months) before October 1st, 2021,
or should obtain their PhD not later than June 1st, 2021.
To be eligible for the senior fellowship, candidates should have been awarded their PhD degree minimum three years and maximum six years before October 1st, 2021.

The International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing,
Applications and Technologies (PDCAT) and International Symposium on
Parallel Architectures, Algorithms and Programming (PAAP) are major forums
for scientists, engineers, and practitioners throughout the world to
present the latest research, results, ideas, developments and applications
in all aspects of parallel and distributed computing, parallel
architectures, algorithms and programming techniques. We devoutly wish
participants to learn the basic theory of a gradual approach, practical
experimental data, new business models, and the latest academic trends from
this conference. During these 20 years, PDCAT and PAAP had been
successfully held in many countries including China, Japan, Korea,
Singapore, Australia and New Zealand across Asia-Oceania.
Extended versions of selected papers will be recommended to special issues
of some SCI-indexed international journals. The tentative journals include

[DMANET] Hiring a postdoc for the NSF AI Institute for Research on Trustworthy AI in Weather, Climate, and Coastal Oceanography
The newly formed NSF AI Institute for Research on Trustworthy AI in Weather, Climate, and Coastal Oceanography (AI2ES) is an NSF funded AI Institute that brings together universities, government, and private industry to develop trustworthy AI for environmental science. AI2ES will uniquely benefit humanity by developing novel, physically based AI techniques that are demonstrated to be trustworthy, and will directly improve prediction, understanding, and communication of high-impact environmental hazards.
We are hiring a postdoc with expertise in machine learning and the physical sciences (preferably atmospheric science, climate, or ocean science). This postdoc will be located at the University of Oklahoma in Norman OK and will work with Dr Amy McGovern, the PI of the institute. The postdoc will also work with other institute personnel at OU in the School of Computer Science and the School of Meteorology as well as with personnel across AI2ES.
The postdoc will be a key part of a team that is developing trustworthy AI for atmospheric science applications. The postdoc will work with interdisciplinary collaborators across the institute. At OU, this will include working with the School of Computer Science and the School of Meteorology as well as colleagues at NOAA. This is an exciting position that will allow the postdoc to work at the forefront of the development of trustworthy AI for a variety of environmental science applications.

conferences and scientific journals. Self-motivation and the ability to
work both independently and as a team player in local and international
research groups are expected. Fluency in English is required;
proficiency in German is helpful but not compulsory.

DCOSS 2021 is the 17th International Conference on Distributed Computing in

In the last few years, we have witnessed a significant growth in the use of
IoT and distributed sensor systems in a number of application areas,
ranging from smart transport, energy and buildings, to factory automation,
smart healthcare and environmental monitoring. In order for smart sensor
systems to truly become useful and pervasive, we need to address a number
of research challenges, including the tight integration of sensing and
machine intelligence, reliable and efficient networking, interoperability
and scalability, the need for dependable autonomy, interaction with humans,
and important aspects of security, privacy and trust. DCOSS focuses on
issues arising in the entire IoT and networked sensor systems stack:
covering aspects of high-level abstractions, models and languages, novel
algorithms and applications, system design approaches and architectures, as
well as tools for simulated and real deployments. Potential authors are
invited to submit original unpublished manuscripts that demonstrate recent

[DMANET] BYMAT conference
Dear all,
We are pleased to announce the 3rd BYMAT Conference – Bringing Young
Mathematicians Together <https://bymat.webs.upv.es/index/>. The conference
will be held online from *December 1 to December 3, 2020. *Participation
and attendance will be* free of charge.*
The conference is especially directed at PhD students in all areas of
mathematics and related disciplines, and indeed any young people who use
mathematics in their daily lives/jobs. Everyone, from undergraduates to
university professors or industry professionals, is more than welcome to
attend!
We expect contributed talks and posters to come mainly from PhD students,
young industry professionals, master's students and recent postdocs. We
strongly encourage women and under-represented groups to present a talk
proposal and actively participate in the event. The official language of
the conference will be English.
We will have short talks (15-20 minutes) distributed in thematic parallel
sessions, a poster session, 5 plenary talks delivered by young professors
and industry professionals, and 3 workshops. In addition, the BBVA
Foundation will present a round table about the role of mathematics in
managing the coronavirus crisis.

This year, PerCom continues the dedicated Industry Track. Accepted papers will be published in the PerCom Workshops and other Affiliated Events proceedings. This track will be an opportunity for people associated with industry and academia to present their novel ideas while attracting funding and/or further expanding collaborations. These papers will be presented with focus on research that has direct Industry impact and potential for industry uptake. For this track, important criteria for papers to be submitted to the Industry Track is clear industrial association, either in the form of extensive evaluation of research results in industrial use cases or active participation of industry representatives as co-authors. Having this condition in mind, contributions related to ongoing or finished, but previously unpublished research papers are welcomed. Submissions from a broad spectrum of research fields with common interest in pervasive computing and communications are expected!

The Work in Progress (WiP) session provides an opportunity to present and discuss new challenges and visions, showcase early research results, and explore novel research directions. PerCom'21 Demos
The PerCom Demo session provides a venue for the latest breakthroughs in pervasive computing to be presented live to the research community. Demos ranging from examples of working prototypes, novel applications, groundbreaking ideas, and live experiments related to PerCom are all welcome. In particular, we encourage demos from industrial researchers who are leading the way in pushing pervasive technology into the hands of the public. The research group Translation Image-guided Oncology is part of the newly founded Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (IKIM) at the University Hospital Essen. The institute is located at the heart of Essen-Rüttenscheid, a vibrant neighborhood of Essen, with a broad range of cultural and culinary activities to explore.
We work on developing and deploying cutting-edge machine learning methods with the goal of making a meaningful difference for patients, doctors, and hospital staff. To this end, and in collaboration with a digital-forward clinic administration, we continue to build on a SMART hospital information structure that provides access to real-world medical data. Strong funding and state-of-the-art equipment support this effort. One focus of our group lies in the exploration of unsupervised learning paradigms for recognition of oncologically relevant patterns in large and complex data.
We currently offer several open research positions at various levels, including PhD positions, postdoc and junior group leader positions. We are also constantly on the look-out for interested and motivated bachelor and master students.

The IEEE DependSys 2020 Conference was planned to be held in Fiji, December
14-16, 2020. Given the COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel
restrictions, as the safety of people is of the highest priority, the
conference will be held virtually on December 14-16, 2020. Accepted papers
will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore Digital Library after they
are presented at the virtual conference. Information and instructions on
how to prepare for a virtual presentation will be sent separately.
Registration fees for the conference will be adjusted.
IEEE DependSys 2020 conference is the 6th event in the series of
conferences which offers a timely venue for bringing together new ideas,
techniques, and solutions for dependability and its issues in sensor,
cloud, and big data systems and applications. As we are deep into the
Information Age, huge amounts of data are generated every day from sensors,
individual archives, social networks, Internet of Things, enterprises and
Internet in various scales and format which will pose a major challenge to
the dependability of our designed systems. As these systems often tend to
become inert, fragile, and vulnerable after a period of running.
Effectively improving the dependability of sensor, cloud, big data systems
and applications has become increasingly critical.

**NEWS**
The IEEE DependSys 2020 Conference was planned to be held in Fiji, December
14-16, 2020. Given the COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel
restrictions, as the safety of people is of the highest priority, the
conference will be held virtually on December 14-16, 2020. Accepted papers
will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore Digital Library after they
are presented at the virtual conference. Information and instructions on
how to prepare for a virtual presentation will be sent separately.
Registration fees for the conference will be adjusted.
IEEE DependSys 2020 conference is the 6th event in the series of
conferences which offers a timely venue for bringing together new ideas,
techniques, and solutions for dependability and its issues in sensor,
cloud, and big data systems and applications. As we are deep into the
Information Age, huge amounts of data are generated every day from sensors,
individual archives, social networks, Internet of Things, enterprises and
Internet in various scales and format which will pose a major challenge to
the dependability of our designed systems. As these systems often tend to
become inert, fragile, and vulnerable after a period of running.
Effectively improving the dependability of sensor, cloud, big data systems
and applications has become increasingly critical.
This conference provides a forum for individuals, academics, practitioners,
and organizations who are developing or procuring sophisticated computer
systems on whose dependability of services they need to place great
confidence. Future systems need to close the dependability gap in face of
challenges in different circumstances. The emphasis will be on differing
properties of such services, e.g., continuity, effective performance,
real-time responsiveness, ability to overcome data fault, corruption,
anomaly, ability to avoid catastrophic failures, prevention of deliberate
privacy intrusions, reliability, availability, sustainability,
adaptability, heterogeneity, security, safety, and so on.

IEEE DependSys 2020 is sponsored by IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, and IEEE
Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (TCSC). All accepted papers will
be submitted to IEEE Xplore and Engineering Index (EI). Best Paper Awards

It is intended to bring together Ph.D. students working on foundations, techniques, tools, and applications of service-oriented computing, and provide them an opportunity to present and discuss their research to an audience of peers and senior faculty in a supportive environment, as well as to participate in a number of plenary sessions with service-oriented computing academics.
We particularly encourage Ph.D. students who are still developing their research methodology or are somewhere in the middle of their research program to submit their preliminary results to this symposium.
