[DMANET] Postdoc position, Dublin: green fleet serving last mile operations

This postdoctoral position at University College Dublin supervised by Assoc
Prof Paula Carroll is in the NexSys project, an All Island of Ireland
Science Foundation of Ireland Strategic Partnership Programme focussed on
the transition to a net zero carbon energy system, see
https://www.nexsys-energy.ie/. This postdoc position is in the NexSys
Transport strand and aims to demonstrate innovative optimisation algorithms
and technologies to achieve #netzero in the transport sector through a
green fleet serving last mile operations.

We are looking for a researcher with expertise in operations research,
business analytics, data or computer science, engineering, or similar
quantitative discipline to join our team.

This is an academic research role, where you will conduct a specified
programme of research supported by research training and development under
the supervision and direction of Principal Investigator Assoc. Prof. Paula
Carroll.

*Responsibilities*

The successful candidate will: 1) define green transport and last mile
logistics business models; 2) create appropriate optimisation algorithms
and/or decision support solutions using approaches such as Mixed Integer
linear Programming, Metaheuristics and/or statistical or machine learning
to support last mile minimum energy (or emissions) vehicle routing; 3)
assess the energy requirements and environmental impact of recommended
solutions; 4) work with interdisciplinary researchers in the NexSys
transport strand to test and evaluate the energy and environmental impact
of their vehicle routing solutions.

*Qualifications*

PhD in Operations Research, Business Analytics, Data or Computer Science,
Engineering, or similar quantitative discipline • Experience in applying
statistical or machine learning techniques to data rich problems • A
demonstrated commitment to research and publications
