The ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing is an international forum on the theory, design, analysis, implementation and application of distributed systems and networks. We solicit papers in all areas of distributed computing. Papers from all viewpoints, including theory, practice, and experimentation, are welcome. PAPER SUBMISSION
======================================

A submitted paper should clearly motivate the importance of the problem being addressed, discuss prior work and its relationship to the paper, explicitly and precisely state the paper's key contributions, and outline the key technical ideas and methods used to achieve the main claims. A submission should strive to be accessible to a broad audience, as well as having sufficient details for experts in the area.

Regular Papers: A regular paper must report on original research that has not been previously published. It is not permitted to submit the same material concurrently to journals or conferences with proceedings. Format and length requirements for submissions are stated below. All ideas necessary for an expert to fully verify the central claims in a paper, including full proofs and experimental results, where applicable, should be included in the submission.

Brief Announcements: A brief announcement may describe work in progress or work presented elsewhere. A brief announcement may also report on original research results that can be fully presented in the limited space available. The title of a brief announcement must begin with "Brief Announcement: ".

Submission format: All submission should be typeset using 11-point or larger fonts, in a single-column, single-space (between lines) format with ample spacing throughout and 1-inch margins all around, on letter-size (8 1/2 x 11 inch) paper.
Alternatively, papers can also be submitted by using the official ACM Master article LaTeX template acmart.cls, version 1.80 or greater, using the following documentclass instruction:

The following instructions equally apply in both cases.

Regular submissions should start with a title page consisting of the title of the paper, no author information (see paragraph on double-blind reviewing below), and an abstract of a few paragraphs summarizing the paper's contributions. There is no page limit and authors are encouraged to use the "full version" of their paper as the submission. Each submission should contain within the initial ten pages following the title page a clear presentation of the merits of the paper, including a discussion of the paper's importance within the context of prior work and a description of the key technical and conceptual ideas used to achieve its main claims. Each submission must contain full proofs of all claims in the paper. Although there is no bound on the length of a submission, material other than the abstract, table of contents, and the first ten pages will be read at the committee's discretion. Authors are encouraged to put the references at the very end of the submission.

Brief announcement submissions must have a length of at most 5 pages including title, abstract, and the references.

Submissions not conforming to the rules stated in this call, as well as papers outside the scope of the conference, may be rejected without consideration.

Best practices for citations: Alphabetical orderings of authors can lead to biases. Therefore, authors are encouraged to avoid "et al." in citations, and instead mention all author names.

DOUBLE-BLIND REVIEWING
======================================

The conference will employ a lightweight double-blind reviewing process. Submissions should not reveal the identity of the authors in any way. In particular, authors' names, affiliations, and email addresses should not appear anywhere in the submission. Nothing should be done in the name of anonymity that weakens the submission or makes the job of reviewing the paper more difficult. In particular, important references should not be omitted or anonymized. In addition, authors should feel free to disseminate their ideas or draft versions of their paper as they normally would. For example, authors may post drafts of their papers on the web, submit them to arXiv, and give talks on their research ideas. Authors with further questions on double-blind reviewing are encouraged to contact the PC chair by email.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST
======================================

Indications of conflicts of interest will be required in the submission form. A conflict of interest is limited to the following:

- A family member or close friend.
- A Ph.D. advisor or advisee (no time limit), or postdoctoral or undergraduate mentor or mentee within the past five years.
- A person with the same affiliation.
- A person involved in an alleged incident of harassment. (It is not required that the incident be reported.)
- Frequent collaborators, or collaborators who have jointly published papers within the last two years.

If you feel that you have a valid reason for a conflict of interest not listed above, contact the PC chair or one of the Theory of Computing Advocates affiliated with this conference (Faith Ellen and Idit Keidar). The PC chair may request that a ToC advocate confidentially verify the
reason for a conflict of interest.

PUBLICATION
======================================

Accepted regular papers of up to 10 pages and brief announcements of up to 3 pages in two-column ACM proceedings format will be included in the conference proceedings. They must be formatted with the ACM Master templates using

\documentclass[sigconf]{acmart}.

If more space than available in the proceedings for an accepted paper is needed, a full version must be available publicly, e.g. on arXiv, by the due date for the proceedings version, and the proceedings version must refer to this.

The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the conference. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work.

It is expected that papers that are published at PODC 2025 are presented by one of the authors in person at the conference. In exceptional circumstances (e.g., because of visa issues), a limited number of exceptions can be approved by the PC chair. A paid conference registration by one of the authors of each accepted paper will be required in any case.

Extended and revised versions of selected papers will be considered for a special issue of the journal Distributed Computing. Up to two selected papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of the ACM.

NTMS'2025 is the 12th IFIP International Conference on New Technologies,
Mobility and Security that will be held on 18 - 20 June 2025 in Paris,

[DMANET] PhD position

The "automata and logic" group of Technische Universität Ilmenau
(Germany), headed by Dietrich Kuske, has an open position for a
"Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter" (fulltime, 3 years, extension

[DMANET] Second call for submissions: Computational Geometry Media Exposition CG:ME

Media, Visualizations, and Geometric Art are sought for the 34th International Computational Geometry Media Exposition (CG:ME), which will take place as part of Computational Geometry Week 2025 in Kanazawa, Japan, June 23-27, 2025. Submissions showcase creative approaches to illustrate research and/or support education in computational geometry.

## SUBMISSION

Submissions will be handled through [EasyChair](https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cgme2025). Submit a paper in PDF which details your multimedia contribution and, where applicable, the techniques used in your work.

The paper should include the following elements:
- An explanation of the connection your submission has to computational geometry, broadly interpreted.
- A link to a portfolio of your work, such as images, video, link to interactive apps, etc. For example, if your contribution is a video, we recommend posting it to YouTube (you can leave it unlisted so only those with the link can view it). You may also use an online file service such as Dropbox or Google Drive to share the portfolio files. In the final proceedings, your initial link will be replaced with an archival link at computational-geometry.org.
- A specification of how the work may be displayed. Note that in many cases the portfolio and the work are in fact identical, for example when the work is a video. In such cases, the (online) portfolio can be used to showcase the work in the CG:ME session.

Acceptance is based on both the portfolio and the accompanying paper. Accepted contributions will be published as Media Exposition papers in the LIPIcs proceedings of the Symposium on Computational Geometry.

Authors are encouraged to contact the PC chairs (cgme2025@easychair.org<mailto:cgme2025@easychair.org>) early in the process to get feedback on their planned submissions.

## TECHNICAL DETAILS

Portfolio submissions are limited to 100 MB. Authors are free to post higher quality versions on their own web sites or other platforms, and we will include links in the electronic proceedings to their version, in addition to the official version (<100 MB) archived on the Computational Geometry pages.

Videos should be 720p or better, using H.264, where the embedded audio stream should be AAC of at least 128kBit/s. Authors are encouraged to post the videos (public or unlisted) on a video sharing service.

Submissions must be formatted according to the same style file as regular SoCG submissions and not exceed 100 lines, excluding front matter and references. Unlike SoCG, CG:ME is not employing double-blind submissions this year. To ensure an accurate line counting, authors must use the LaTeX class file [socg-lipics-v2021](https://computational-geometry.org/documents/socg-lipics-v2021.cls), which is a wrapper around the standard LIPIcs class, see these [guidelines](https://computational-geometry.org/documents/linecount_2022_09_19.pdf).

[DMANET] PhD studentship in Algorithms and complexity (UK home students only)

Subject: PhD studentship in Algorithms and complexity (UK home students
only)

The Algorithms group at the University of Leeds (UK) is offering a fully
funded 3.5-year PhD studentship on Parameterized Complexity and
Approximation. Parameterized Complexity is a vastly growing area within
theoretical computer science that allows for the development of exact and
approximation algorithms for computationally hard problems by exploiting
the structure of inputs and doing a multivariate complexity analysis. The
goal of this project is to develop more efficient parameterized
approximation algorithms and preprocessing algorithms (also known as
kernelization) for a wide range of NP-hard graph problems.
Requirements: Applicants should have at least a first class or an upper
second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an
appropriate discipline, i.e., computer science or mathematics. Applicants
are expected to have excellent mathematical skills as well as an interest
in discrete algorithms.

Dear Colleagues

University College Dublin (UCD, Dublin, Ireland) has recently opened the
competitive *Ad Astra Fellowship positions*. I am writing here to highlight
possibilities within the *UCD College of Business, Management Information
Systems Subject Area*.


- Ad Astra Fellowships are *tenure-track*, highly competitive, faculty
posts as you can see from the appointment terms below:
- Ad Astra Fellow appointees will normally be appointed at the first
salary point of Assistant Professor/Lecturer Above-the-Bar pay scale.
- The initial term will be five years with the possibility of permanency
after a four-year review of performance against targets set with the Head
of School at commencement and approved at College and University level.
These targets will include applying for a minimum of one externally-funded
research grant each year, and there will normally be an expectation that at
least one of these grant applications is successful for the four-year
review to be satisfactory.
- Relocation expenses will be paid in accordance with the UCD Relocation
Policy up to a maximum of €4500.
- Appointees will have a reduced teaching load for up to three years,
with a teaching load of between one third and one half of the standard
teaching load in the first year, between one half and two thirds in the
second year and between two thirds and one of the standard teaching load in
the third year.
- Appointees will receive research support for the first five years,
which will normally consist of a PhD student scholarship and a budget for
research costs of €5000 per annum.
- Appointees without a formal university teaching qualification will be
expected to undertake the UCD Professional Certificate in University
Teaching and Learning. Further requirements for satisfactory performance
will be determined and will include a specified number of high-quality
research publications appropriate for the discipline.

With the advancements in wireless communication systems like Fifth
Generation (5G), beyond 5G (B5G) and the Sixth Generation (6G), new and
unprecedent services will be available for users with nearly unlimited
capacity. These services will be the core driver of the future digital
transformation of our cities and communities. This will be accompanied by a
ubiquities deployment of the Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure and
supported by computing capacity that will be available at the edge of the
network and at the cloud. The computing infrastructure will be handling the
processing of the data generated by the users and services. Such a complex
and diverse system will require an efficient and sustainable applications
running on the computing\Networking infrastructure and also a smart control
and automation systems to integrate and manage its different components.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications will play a significant
role on the design, deployment, automation and management of the future
services. This will include the applications that will be running on the
edge and the cloud servers, the networking applications to handle the flow
of data between the users and the computing system and the intelligent
automation and management software operating on the system. The
International Conference on Intelligent Computing, Networking and Services

Manuscripts should be prepared in 10-point font using the IEEE 8.5" x 11"
two-column format. All papers should be in PDF format, and submitted
electronically at Paper Submission Link. A full paper can be up to 8 pages
(including all figures, tables and references). Submitted papers must
present original unpublished research that is not currently under review
for any other conference or journal. Papers not following these guidelines
may be rejected without review. Also submissions received after the due
date, exceeding length limit, or not appropriately structured may also not
be considered. Authors may contact the Program Chair for further
information or clarification. All submissions are peer-reviewed by at least
three reviewers. Accepted papers will appear in the ICCNS Proceeding, and
be published by the IEEE Computer Society Conference Publishing Services
and be submitted to IEEE Xplore for inclusion.

Submitted papers must include original work, and must not be under
consideration for another conference or journal. Submission of regular
papers up to 8 pages and must follow the IEEE paper format. Please include
up to 7 keywords, complete postal and email address, and fax and phone
numbers of the corresponding author. Authors of accepted papers are

In our research group Computational Analytics (https://ca.cs.uni-bonn.de/doku.php?id=ags:coan
led by Prof. Petra Mutzel https://ca.cs.uni-bonn.de/doku.php?id=people:mutzel
at the Computer Science Institute of the University of Bonn (Germany),
we have a position for a PostDoc available for about 3 years (until December 2027, available: as soon as possible)

The aim of our project is to use (temporal) graph algorithms to get a deeper understanding of molecular systems by studying their conformations (3D structure). The main work expected to be done is to design new graph similarity approaches that maybe useful for the application in chemistry.

Within this project, we cooperate with a chemist (Prof. Barbara Kirchner) and a PhD student in chemistry.

As a member of the research group of Petra Mutzel you can also supervise students on Bachelor and/or Master level with projects defined by yourself. You have no teaching obligations.

Since the University of Bonn is among the few German Universities of Excellence with six clusters of excellence,
one of them in Mathematics, many of our bachelor and master students are really excellent; some of them study both, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Deep learning is a branch of artificial intelligence covering a spectrum of current frontier research and industrial innovation that provides more efficient algorithms to deal with large-scale data in a huge variety of environments: computer vision, neurosciences, speech recognition, language processing, human-computer interaction, drug discovery, biomedicine and health informatics, medical image analysis, recommender systems, advertising, fraud detection, robotics, games, business and finance, biotechnology, physics experiments, biometrics, communications, climate sciences, geographic information systems, signal processing, genomics, materials design, video technology, social systems, earth and sustainability, etc. etc.

The field is also raising a number of relevant questions about robustness of the algorithms, explainability, transparency, interpretability, as well as important ethical concerns at the frontier of current knowledge that deserve careful multidisciplinary discussion.

Most deep learning subareas will be displayed, and main challenges identified through 18 four-hour and a half courses, 2 keynote lectures, 1 round table and a hackathon competition among participants. Renowned academics and industry pioneers will lecture and share their views with the audience. The organizers are convinced that outstanding speakers will attract the brightest and most motivated students. Face to face interaction and networking will be main ingredients of the event. It will be also possible to fully participate in vivo remotely.

DeepLearn 2025 will place special emphasis on large language models, foundation models and generative artificial intelligence.

ADDRESSED TO:

Graduate students, postgraduate students and industry practitioners will be typical profiles of participants. However, there are no formal pre-requisites for attendance in terms of academic degrees, so people less or more advanced in their career will be welcome as well.

Since there will be a variety of levels, specific knowledge background may be assumed for some of the courses.

Overall, DeepLearn 2025 is addressed to students, researchers and practitioners who want to keep themselves updated about recent developments and future trends. All will surely find it fruitful to listen to and discuss with major researchers, industry leaders and innovators.

STRUCTURE:

3 courses will run in parallel during the whole event. Participants will be able to freely choose the courses they wish to attend as well as to move from one to another.

All lectures will be videorecorded. Participants will be able to watch them again for 45 days after the event.

An open session will give participants the opportunity to present their own work in progress in 5 minutes. Also companies will be able to present their technical developments for 10 minutes.

The school will include a hackathon, where participants will be able to work in teams to tackle several machine learning challenges.

Full live online participation will be possible. The organizers highlight, however, the importance of face to face interaction and networking in this kind of research training event.

HACKATHON:

The winning teams will receive a modest monetary prize and the runners-up will get a certificate.

DT connects the physical and digital worlds by building an accurate virtual replica of system objects in real-time. DT delivers a new generation platform to analyse and test complex systems that is not currently available in traditional simulations and evaluations. Therefore, the use of DT is required in communication systems. [DMANET] Permutation Patterns 2025

The next edition of the Permutation Patterns conference will be held at the University of St Andrews (Scotland) July 7th-11th, 2025.
It will be preceded by an early-career researcher workshop on July 4th and 5th.

This conference series was established in 2003 and has been held annually since then. It is centred around the study of patterns in permutations and other combinatorial objects.
The keynote speakers will be David Bevan (University of Strathclyde) and Natasha Blitvić (Queen Mary University of London).

We will welcome submissions of extended abstracts in all research fields related to patterns in permutations and other combinatorial objects.

The 44th Annual ACM SIGACT-SIGOPS Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing (PODC 2025) invites submission of proposals for full-day and half-day workshops and tutorials to be held in conjunction with PODC 2025. PODC is the premier conference for researchers interested in the foundations of distributed computing and traditionally also hosts a number of workshops and tutorials where researchers can exchange opinions, discuss new results and ideas, and provide in-depth presentations of topics of interest to the community. PODC 2025 will be held in Huatulco, Mexico, June 16-20, 2025. The days reserved for the workshops/tutorials are Monday, June 16, and Friday, June 20.

OVERVIEW:
==========

Advances in storage are becoming crucial as HPC and cloud systems handle ever-increasing data, a trend expected to accelerate. For decades, parallel file systems like Lustre and GPFS have seen few structural changes, with limited integration of I/O support technologies that leverage hierarchical storage layers, such as node-local burst buffers. Recently, however, there has been a surge in innovations in data storage, processing systems, and I/O support software for several key reasons:

- Technology: The growing availability of persistent solid-state storage and storage-class memory technologies, capable of replacing both memory and disk, is opening up new possibilities for the design of storage systems.

- Performance requirements: Disk-based parallel file systems are no longer sufficient to meet the performance demands of high-end systems. However, the optimal use of solid-state storage and storage-class memory to achieve the required performance remains unclear. As a result, new approaches for integrating these technologies into HPC systems are being actively developed and evaluated.

- Application evolution: Data analysis applications, such as graph analytics and machine learning, are becoming increasingly critical in both scientific and commercial computing. I/O often presents a major bottleneck for these applications, particularly in cloud and HPC environments, where rapid turnaround or the integration of intensive computation and analysis is required. As a result, data storage, I/O, and processing demands are evolving, driven by the emergence of complex workflows that integrate computation, analytics, and learning.

- Infrastructure evolution: In the future, HPC technology will extend beyond dedicated supercomputing centers. Concepts such as "Embedded HPC," "HPC in a Box," "HPC in the Loop," "HPC in the Cloud," "HPC as a Service," and "near-real-time simulation" will drive the need for new, small-scale HPC deployment environments. To enable a seamless computing continuum, a federation of systems and functions will be needed, with unified mechanisms for managing I/O, storage, and data processing across all participating systems.

- Virtualization and disaggregation: As virtualization and disaggregation become more widely adopted in cloud and HPC computing, the importance of virtualized storage is growing. Increased efforts will be required to understand its impact on performance.

Our goals for the ESSA Workshop are to bring together leading researchers and developers in data-related fields?such as storage, I/O, processing, and analytics?on extreme-scale infrastructures, including HPC systems, clouds, edge systems, and hybrid combinations of these. We aim to discuss advancements and potential solutions to the new challenges we encounter.

- Extreme-scale storage systems for high-end HPC infrastructures, clouds, or hybrid environments
- Extreme-scale parallel distributed, storage architectures
- Synergies between different storage models, including POSIX file systems, object storage, key-value stores, and row- and column-oriented databases
- Structures and interfaces for leveraging persistent solid-state storage and storage-class memory
- High-performance I/O libraries and services
- I/O performance in extreme-scale systems and applications (HPC, clouds, edge)
- Storage and data processing architectures for hybrid HPC/cloud/edge infrastructures supporting complex workflows that integrate simulation and analytics
- Integrating computation within the memory and storage hierarchy to facilitate in-situ & in-transit data processing
- I/O characterization and data processing techniques for application workloads in extreme-scale parallel and distributed machine learning and deep learning
- Tools and techniques for managing data movement among compute and data-intensive components
- Data reduction and compression methods
- Failure management and recovery strategies for extreme-scale storage systems
- Benchmarks and performance tools for extreme-scale I/O
- Language and library support for data-centric computing
- Storage virtualization and disaggregation
- Ephemeral storage media and consistency optimizations
- Storage architectures and systems for scalable stream-based processing
- Case studies of I/O services and data processing architectures across various application domains (e.g., scientific simulations, experimental facilities, large observatories, bioinformatics, etc.)

SUBMISSIONS:
============

The workshop will accept traditional research papers (8 pages excluding references) for in-depth topics and short papers (5 pages excluding references) for work in progress on hot topics. Papers should present original research and provide sufficient background material to make them accessible to the broader community.

Paper format: single-spaced double-column pages using 10-point size font on 8.5x11 inch pages (IEEE conference style), including figures, tables, and references. The submitted manuscripts should include author names and affiliations.
