Call for Abstracts for the "Sustainable Transport Planning" Stream at EURO XXV
Co-organisers: Bülent Çatay, Sabanci University (catay "at" sabanciuniv.edu) and Tolga Bektas, University of Southampton (t.bektas "at" soton.ac.uk)
Transportation and logistics are part of today's most important economic activities as they remain to be vital tools for businesses to remain competitive. However, the ever growing volume of activity generated by both passenger and freight transportation is a source of concern as it is likely to hinder the environmental, economic and social sustainability of transport activities. The Sustainable Transport Planning stream at EURO XXV calls for abstracts describing models, tools, techniques and methodologies for achieving sustainable ways of planning transport operations, in application domains such as:
* city logistics,
* intelligent transportation systems,
* intermodal transportation,
* network design and planning,
* passenger transportation,
* reverse logistics,
* green logistics,
* road, rail, air and maritime freight operations,
* supply chain management,
* terminal operations management and planning,
* vehicle routing and scheduling.
Contributors are requested to contact the stream organisers first for the submission (invitation) code and then submit their abstracts via the Conference web page (www.euro-2012.lt) by February 29, 2012. The abstracts must be written in English and contain no more than 600 characters (no formulas or mathematical notations are allowed). Please note that each participant is allowed to present one paper at the Conference. The EURO XXV Conference will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania from 8-11 July, 2012.
