1 PhD or Postdoc position
Collaborative Research Center TR109
"Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics" (Berlin/Munich)
Project A3 "Geometric Constraints for Polytopes"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A 2-year research position,
with a salary of 3/4 TV-L 13 according to the Berlin University Salary Scale,
will be available within the Collaborative Research Center TR 109
"Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics" http://discretization.de
starting January 1, 2013.
The research topic for the position is the interaction of the combinatorics of
convex polytopes (numbers of faces, face lattice, graph, diameter of the graph)
and geometric properties (such as inscribability and various concepts
of being "round").
Prerequisite: Completed University Studies (Diploma or Master).
Desired:
- Pertinent research experience in Discrete Geometry/Convex Gemetry,
in particular Polytope Theory
- Broad mathematical interests, in particular in the range of Geometry
and Dynamics, as pursued in the CRC.
- Team spirit (in a large, internationally distinguished research group) and
networking capabilities.
