Two fully funded PhD/Postdoc positions are available at the Chair of 
Algorithms for Intelligent Systems (Prof. Dr. Dirk Sudholt) at the 
University of Passau, Germany, starting at the earliest possible date. 
The term is 3 years, with the possibility of an extension. The salary is 
based on Entgeltgruppe TV-L 13. In case a PhD degree has already been 
awarded and you meet fundamental civil service requirements, the 
position can be set up as an Akademischer Rat position (Besoldungsstufe 
A13).
The research group focuses on the theoretical, algorithmic analysis of 
randomised or nature-inspired algorithms such as evolutionary 
algorithms, swarm intelligence and estimation of distribution algorithms.
What we expect:
  * An excellent degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related
    discipline
  * Very good knowledge in the analysis of algorithms, randomised
    algorithms and/or stochastic processes
  * Enthusiasm for mathematical problems and scientific work
  * Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  * The ability to teach in German (or the ability to learn German
    within a reasonable time frame) is a plus.
