pages in the proceedings. This form is intended for contributions reporting
on original research, submitted exclusively to this conference. Brief
announcements of 5 to 10 minutes accompanied by two page abstracts in
the proceedings. This format is a forum for brief communications, which
may be published in other conferences.

Submission:

Papers are to be submitted electronically, following the guidelines
available on the conference web page. Authors unable to submit
electronically should contact the program chair to receive instructions.

Every submission should be in English, in .ps or .pdf format, and begin
with a cover page including: (1) the title, (2) the names of all authors and
their affiliations, (3) contact author's email address and telephone number,
(4) a brief, one paragraph abstract of the paper, (5) information whether
the paper is a regular submission, or a brief announcement submission,
(6) information whether the submission should be considered for the best
student paper award.

A regular submission must not exceed 10 single-column pages using at least
11 point font and reasonable margins (excluding cover page and references).
Additional necessary details may be included in a clearly marked
appendix that will be read at the discretion of the program committee.
A brief announcement submission must not exceed 3 single-column pages using
at least 11 point font and reasonable margins. Submissions deviating from

main results or conclusions, a brief explanation of their significance, a
brief statement of the key ideas, and a comparison with related work, all
tailored to a non-specialist. Technical development of the work, directed
to the specialist, should follow. Papers outside of the conference scope
will be rejected without review.

If requested by the authors on the cover page, a regular submission that is
not selected for a regular presentation can also be considered for the brief
announcement format. Such a request will not affect consideration of the
paper for a regular presentation.

[DMANET] Distance Geometry and Applications, Manaus, June 2013 - 3rd Annoucement

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
DGA 2013
Workshop on Distance Geometry and Applications
June 24-17, Manaus-Amazonas-BRAZIL

http://dga2013.icomp.ufam.edu.br
dga2013@icomp.ufam.edu.br
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

3rd CALL FOR PAPERS

** EXTENDED DEADLINE (maximum 4 pages extended abstract): February 15, 2013 **

** Visit our website http://dga2013.icomp.ufam.edu.br **

This is the 3rd Announcement of the WORKSHOP ON DISTANCE GEOMETRY
AND APPLICATIONS - DGA'2013, which will take place in a jungle hotel,
along the Amazon river and in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, one
of the world greatest natural environments and huge biodiversity
hotspots, close to Manaus, capital of the Amazonas state, Brazil, on
June 24-27, 2013.

The aim of the Workshop is to bring together researchers in
multidisciplinary fields, with emphasis on Distance Geometry (DG).
Distance Geometry is an area of research already consolidated, with
Mathematics and Computation as key areas in its foundation. The
concept of distance is essential to the human experience and DG puts
this concept as the main object in a given geometric structure. The
fundamental problem of DG is to find a set of points in a given
geometric space whose distances between some of these points are
known.

Besides the beauty of the mathematical theory associated to DG, the
interest in this research topic is explained by the richness and
variety of its applications. Among the best known ones we find
molecular structure determination, localization of sensor networks,
graph rigidity, graph realization, data visualization, and robotics.

We accept contributions in the form of extended abstracts (maximum 4
pages) to be published in the workshop proceedings without copyright.
They will be presented in a poster session, which will be a very
important part of the workshop. The best accepted extended abstracts
will be selected for a special session of oral presentations (5-10 min
presentations).

The official language of the workshop is English.

There will be a special issue of the journal "Discrete Applied
Mathematics (DAM)", where the participants will be invited to submit
their corresponding full papers.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Submission 'extended' deadline: February 15, 2013
Acceptance notification: March 18, 2013

[DMANET] ICPLT 2013. Production, Logistics, and Traffic. Germany.

*Apologies for cross-posting - please forward to interested parties*
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ICPLT 2013, CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
1st Interdisciplinary Conference on Production, Logistics, and Traffic
March 20-21, 2013. Darmstadt, Germany
http://icplt.org/

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Megatrends like increasing volatility, digitalization, globalization and urbanization bring up new challenges for production, logistics, and traffic. Companies increasingly benefit from complex global value networks. At the same time transport infrastructure reaches its limits due to rising freight transport. As a consequence transport and mobility is constrained and traffic becomes a limiting factor in production. Therefore, public authorities that want to tackle these effects have to consider developments in Production and Logistics.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
In that sense, the objective of the ICPLT 2013 is to build a dialog platform among members from different industries as well as scientists and public authorities, which are interested in future solutions for handling the growing interdependencies between production, logistics, and traffic and developing possible solutions.

KEY TOPICS
The two-day conference will follow a series of workshops with more than 40 invited experts dealing with interdisciplinary questions concerning core topics organized in the following sequences:

- Urban Production and Logistics (Sequence 1)
As a megatrend of the future, rapidly intensified urbanization comes along with major challenges for production, logistics, and traffic across value chains. Five speeches from experts and top managers will deal with the implications and present new solutions.

- Enablement through Integration of Systems in Production, Logistics, and Traffic (Sequence 2) Sophisticated design, implementation, and utilization of information technology present a considerable opportunity for creating synergies and for leveraging opportunities across production, logistics, and traffic. This sequence focuses on future concepts and technologies for further system-integration of these three disciplines.

- Organizing Traffic Management of the Future (Sequence 3)
Increasing freight traffic emphasizes the need for a systematically organized traffic management that addresses supply and demand in a sustainable way. In this sequence, experts from different fields approach the subject from various angles, integrating the aims and objectives of public authorities and private production and logistics enterprises.

- Distributed Value Creation (Sequence 4)
Recent trends like increasing volatility, globalization, and digitalisation are currently leading to increased complexity in value networks. In this sequence, five experts from industry and academia will present their views on impacts, limitations, opportunities, and risks of distributed value creation for tomorrow's supply chains.

[DMANET] 2nd Call for papers: Machines, Computations and Universality 2013

Machines, Computations and Universality (MCU) 2013, the 6th conference
in the MCU series, will be hosted at the University of Zurich on
September 9-12, 2013.

http://mcu2013.ini.uzh.ch/

SCOPE

MCU explores computation in the setting of various discrete models
(Turing machines, register machines, cellular automata, tile assembly
systems, rewriting systems, neural models etc.) and analog and hybrid
models (BSS machines, infinite time cellular automata, real machines,
quantum computing etc.). There is particular (but not exclusive)
emphasis given towards the following:

1. the search for frontiers between decidability and undecidability in
the various models. (For example, what is the smallest number of pairs
of words for which the Post correspondence problem is undecidable, or
what is the largest state-symbol product for which the halting problem
is decidable for Turing machines?)

2. the search for the simplest universal models (such as small universal
Turing machines, universal rewriting systems with few rules, universal
cellular automata with small neighborhoods and a small number of states,
etc.)

3. the computational complexity of predicting the evolution of
computations in the various models. (For example, is it possible to
predict an arbitrary number of time steps for a model more efficiently
than explicit step by step simulation of the model?)

4. universality and undecidability in continuous models of computation.

[DMANET] MobiCom 2013 Call for Workshop Proposals

Apologies if you received multiple copies
---------------------------------------------------------------

MobiCom 2013 Call for Workshops

ACM MobiCom is the premier international conference dedicated to addressing emerging issues in mobile, wireless and ad hoc networking and computing. ACM MobiCom 2013 will hold multiple one or half day workshops on Monday (September 30, 2013) and Friday (October 4, 2013) of the conference week in Miami, FL, USA.

Workshop Proposals

We invite you to submit workshop proposals on any topic related to mobile communications, wireless networking, and mobile computing on or before March 1, 2013 to the Workshop Chairs. The ideal workshop proposal should focus on a specific area, be of current interest, and be able to attract a number of high-quality submissions. Proposals on emerging topics guaranteed to generate significant interest in the community will be selected. MobiCom 2013 will likely feature a mix of some returning and some new workshops.

New! Industrial-Track Workshops

This year, in addition to the standard research-oriented workshops, we encourage proposals that are more industry-oriented in nature. Examples include (but not limited to) workshops themed around a specific platform (e.g., Android, Windows 8, iOS) and hands-on experience workshops involving mobile devices, sensor platforms and other hardware. In addition to the requirements outlined below, industrial-track workshop proposals should specifically highlight their relevance to the MobiCom community.

A workshop proposal should be no more than 3 pages, containing at least:

A draft call for papers (as complete as possible)

Names and affiliations of main organizers and tentative composition of the committees

Motivation and rationale for the workshop

List of workshop program components (keynote speaker, panel, paper sessions, etc).

Expected number of submissions and participants

Prior history of this workshop, if any (including # submissions, # accepted papers and # attendees)

If the workshop was previously co-located with other conferences, please indicate the name of the conferences and the years clearly.

Submission Instructions

Please submit your workshop proposal using the EasyChair submission system at:

https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mobicom13workshops

Please make sure to add the email addresses of all workshop co-chairs to the system for better communication.

Important Dates

Workshop Proposals due: March 1, 2013

Notification of Acceptance: March 8, 2013

Workshop Final Call for Papers due: March 15, 2013

General Information

ACM MobiCom provides basic support for the workshops in the form of registration, publication, publicity, meeting space, audio/video equipment and coffee breaks. To promote flexibility, the details including the format of the workshop and the form of submissions and presentations are left to the organizers of each workshop. Because workshops are meant to foster discussions on emerging topics of interest among the broader SIGMOBILE community, workshops are encouraged to be inclusive rather than exclusive in their solicitation of material. In addition, targeting more interactive forums such as presentations of short papers, panels, and round-table discussions, rather than traditional presentations of full-length papers can be more conducive to successful workshops.

We look forward to your submissions. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about submitting a workshop proposal.

For More Information

Please contact the Workshop Co-Chairs, Raja Bose (Microsoft, USA. e-mail: raja [dot] bose [at] microsoft [dot] com) and Moustafa Youssef, (Egypt-Japan University of Science & Technology, Egypt. e-mail: moustafa [dot] youssef [at] ejust [dot] edu [dot] eg) for more information. Scope and Topics of Interest
Recent advancements in wireless technologies have enabled networked
solutions for many unconventional civil and military applications. In
recent years, ad-hoc networks have been attracting increased attention from
the research and engineering communities, motivated by applications like
digital battlefield, asset tracking, air-borne safety, situational
awareness, and border protection. Similarly, advances in micro-electro-
mechanical devices and large-scale integration have enabled the realization
of miniaturized sensor nodes that can probe their surroundings and transmit
their measurements using on-board wireless transceivers. Large-scale
networks of miniaturized sensor nodes may also enable new applications such
as target tracking, security surveillance, elder care, and forest
monitoring. Both ad hoc and sensor networks are characterized by their
dynamic nature, which requires them to be adaptive to changes in the
application environment, task objectives, and topological changes, among
others. The last few years have witnessed the development of many
innovative solutions for ad-hoc and sensor networks that are maturing to
the level of commercialization and standardization. Yet, numerous
challenges remain for the implementation of practical solutions that
operate robustly, securely, and efficiently. The Ad Hoc and Sensor
Networking Symposium of GLOBECOM'2013 opts to foster a forum for sharing
ideas and recent results among researchers and practitioners working on
state-of-the-art solutions related to ad-hoc and sensor networks. We are

http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0

The submissions will be peer reviewed by at least three members of the
Programme Committee. The reviewing process is double blind, so authors
should remove names and affiliations from the submitted papers, and must
take reasonable care not to indirectly disclose their identity.
References to own work can be included in the paper, but should be
referred to in the third person.

The authors of accepted papers will have to improve their paper on the
basis of the recommendations from the reviewers and will be asked to
send a camera ready version of their manuscripts. Even though the
submissions can be made in PDF (preferable) or PS, we encourage authors
to prepare their papers in TEX or LATEX because these are more
convenient source formats for the camera ready final version. At least
one author of each accepted work must register for the conference and
present the work.
