3rd CALL FOR PAPERS

** EXTENDED DEADLINE (maximum 4 pages extended abstract): February 15, 2013 **

** Visit our website http://dga2013.icomp.ufam.edu.br **

This is the 3rd Announcement of the WORKSHOP ON DISTANCE GEOMETRY
AND APPLICATIONS - DGA'2013, which will take place in a jungle hotel,
along the Amazon river and in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, one
of the world greatest natural environments and huge biodiversity
hotspots, close to Manaus, capital of the Amazonas state, Brazil, on
June 24-27, 2013.

The aim of the Workshop is to bring together researchers in
multidisciplinary fields, with emphasis on Distance Geometry (DG).
Distance Geometry is an area of research already consolidated, with
Mathematics and Computation as key areas in its foundation. The
concept of distance is essential to the human experience and DG puts
this concept as the main object in a given geometric structure. The
fundamental problem of DG is to find a set of points in a given
geometric space whose distances between some of these points are
known.

Besides the beauty of the mathematical theory associated to DG, the
interest in this research topic is explained by the richness and
variety of its applications. Among the best known ones we find
molecular structure determination, localization of sensor networks,
graph rigidity, graph realization, data visualization, and robotics.

We accept contributions in the form of extended abstracts (maximum 4
pages) to be published in the workshop proceedings without copyright.
They will be presented in a poster session, which will be a very
important part of the workshop. The best accepted extended abstracts
will be selected for a special session of oral presentations (5-10 min
presentations).

The official language of the workshop is English.

There will be a special issue of the journal "Discrete Applied
Mathematics (DAM)", where the participants will be invited to submit
their corresponding full papers.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Submission 'extended' deadline: February 15, 2013
Acceptance notification: March 18, 2013
Workshop dates: June 24-27, 2013
