HIGHLIGHTS'24, JEWELS OF AUTOMATA THEORY '24, (Bordeaux, France, 16-20
September 2024) AND HCRW (21-27 September)

*HIGHLIGHTS'24* and *Jewels of Automata Theory '24* are jointly scheduled *from
September 16 to September 20, 2024* at the *University of Bordeaux, France*,
in *LaBRI*. They will be followed by the *Highlights Collaborative Research
Week (HCRW)*, from *September 21 to 27, 2024*.

*HIGHLIGHTS'24* is the twelfth in the series of international conferences
"Highlights of Logic, Games and Automata", aiming at integrating the
community working in algorithmic model theory, automata theory, databases,
games for logic and verification, logic and verification. Papers from these
areas are dispersed across many conferences, which makes them difficult to
follow. A visit to the HIGHLIGHTS conference should offer a wide picture of
the latest research in the field and a chance to meet everybody in the
community, not just those who happen to publish in one particular
proceedings volume. There are no publications.

Jewels of Automata Theory 2024 will survey a wide picture of research in
automata theory and related mathematical fields. It will consist of invited
lectures which describe significant progress over the past years, and will
be a meeting point for both young and senior researchers to learn and to
discuss about automata theory, its connections with mathematics and its
applications.

*HIGHLIGHTS'24* key features:

- HIGHLIGHTS is a conference without publications, where speakers give
short presentations of their best work.
- The 2024 edition is colocated with Jewels of Automata Theory a
conference featuring invited talks on mathematical aspects of automata
theory.
- A chat of the conference is available during the event, and throughout
the year.
- There is an early round of submissions and notifications to help with
travel planning.
- The *Highlights' Collaborative Research Week* (*HCRW*) offers means
for research collaborations/discussions between participants. HCRW is
scheduled after the conference.

participants find collaborators and organise visits in the vicinity of
HIGHLIGHTS.

MODALITIES OF ATTENDANCE

*HIGHLIGHTS'24* is an event that will take place on-site (barring
unforeseen circumstances), and the preferred form of participation is in
person. Remote attendance via a video stream will also be offered, but with
limited possible interactions for these participants.

Submission to Highlights'24 is open to everyone, and attendance to the
conference is not a requirement. The selection procedure will not take into
account in-person attendance. Authors who do not intend to attend
Highlights'24 in-person must commit to this choice when submitting their
talk proposal. If accepted, authors of such talk proposals will have the
opportunity to share a prerecorded video of their talk, which will be made
available on the conference website.

Before coming from far away, please review how your trip and international
flights are contributing to climate change. We encourage you to take the
train as much as possible, possibly taking the opportunity for visiting
colleagues on the way and thus decomposing the travel into smaller pieces.

More generally, we encourage you to make the most of your stay. This means
extending your journey to the previous and/or following weeks for more

HIGHLIGHTS EXTENDED STAY SUPPORT SCHEME (HESSS)

The *HESSS* is an incentive for collaborations between participants of the
conference and researchers working in research groups reachable by train
from the conference location. The objective is to foster interactions with
low carbon footprint. The mechanism is as follows:

- Research groups willing to participate in the scheme are listed on the
webpage: https://highlights-conference.org/2024/hesss. These groups are
offering to fund collaborations between HIGHLIGHTS participants and their
members.
- The pair of a HIGHLIGHTS participant and a member of a listed research
group submit a proposal, which takes the form of an email containing names,
period of collaboration, and a sentence describing the planned activity. It
has to be sent to the *HESSS* contact person of the research unit
(better through zulip).
- The decision of acceptance is up to the research group. In particular,
it may be subject to scientific scope, number of requests, or e.g.,
favouring distant participants.
- The only strict rule is that the visit should be around HIGHLIGHTS,
and no airplane should be taken by the visitor to travel from HIGHLIGHTS to
the visit location.

DLT is a yearly event organized to bring together members of the academic, research, and industrial community who have an interest in formal languages, automata theory, and related areas. This iteration of the DLT conference will be held in conjunction with the 14th International Workshop on Non-Classical Models of Automata and Applications (NCMA 2024) in Göttingen, Germany in August 2024.

Alongside the regular programme of contributed talks and social events, there will also be four invited talks, a mentoring workshop, highlights talks, and an evening lecture on linguistics by Anke Holler (Göttingen).

The conference will also see the 2024 Salomaa Prize (https://math.utu.fi/salomaaprize/) awarded to to Mikołaj Bojańczyk.

NCMA 2024 is the 14th edition in a series of events established in 2009. The workshop hosts a series of research talks presenting original contributions on classical and non-classical models of automata and applications and related subjects, including descriptional complexity of formal systems. Many models of automata and grammar-like structures are the natural objects of theoretical computer science. They are studied from different points of view in various areas, both as theoretical concepts and as formal models for applications. As such, the aim of the workshops on Non-Classical Models of Automata and Applications is to provide a forum for researchers who work on different aspects of classical and non-classical models of automata and grammars to exchange and develop novel ideas.

We are looking for new team members in the group of Theoretical Computer
Science at the University of Potsdam starting in the fall of 2024. The
starting date is negotiable.

Our group is interested in Algorithms and Complexity for problems involving
graphs and/or geometry. This includes but is not limited to computational
geometry, geometric graph theory, graph drawing and geometric optimization
problems.
We aim for a creative, collaborative, and fun environment where we strive to

Introduction

The conference will focus on business data semantics and infrastructure for
information management and interchange. The BASE conference series attracts
research on data management and user interfaces for scientific computing
systems. These themes will be discussed in the context of research on
infrastructure facilities, robotics, IoT as well as human resource
development in science and engineering. The conference aims at promoting
research related to (this list is not exhaustive):

approaches and algorithms for automatic data center administration; (4)
architectures for simplifying access to, and querying of, diverse
information sources; as well as (5) all aspects of data management for,
broadly understood, Information Systems. Contributions that report
experimental work and results are strongly encouraged.

The 12th International Conference on Big-Data-Analytics in Astronomy,
Science and Engineering will publish its proceedings (indexed by Scopus) in
the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Selected
manuscripts will be recommended for publication in "The International
Journal of Computational Science and Engineering (IJCSE)". This journal is
listed in Web of Science, and the UGC master list of journals in India.

included on the text cover page. The selected full papers will be included

About the conference

SAT 2024 is the 27th edition of the International Conference on Theory
and Applications of
Satisfiability Testing (SAT). The scope of SAT 2024 includes all
aspects of the theory
and applications of propositional satisfiability, broadly construed.
This also includes
Boolean optimization, such as MaxSAT and Pseudo-Boolean (PB)
constraints, Quantified
Boolean Formulas (QBF), Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT), Model
Counting, and
Constraint Programming (CP) for problems with clear connections to Boolean-level
reasoning.

SAT 2024 is the first time that SAT will take place in India. There
will be co-located
schools and workshops prior to the conference. The events are being
organized by TCS

(RANDOM 2024) and the 27th International Conference on Approximation

Introduction

Scalable computing in cloud infrastructure is a critical component in
advancing smart networking management and bolstering cybersecurity
measures. The dynamic and ever-evolving nature of smart networking demands
a scalable architecture that can efficiently handle the increasing volume
and complexity of data traffic. Cloud infrastructure, with its elasticity
and on-demand resource allocation, provides a scalable solution to
accommodate the growing demands of smart networks. In the realm of smart
networking management, scalability ensures the seamless integration of new
devices, services, and applications into the network ecosystem. As the
number of connected devices continues to rise, a scalable cloud
infrastructure allows for the efficient deployment of additional computing
resources, ensuring that the network can adapt to fluctuations in demand
without compromising performance or reliability. This adaptability is
essential for optimizing the functionality of smart networks and
facilitating the rapid deployment of innovative services.

Moreover, scalable computing plays a pivotal role in enhancing
cybersecurity in smart networking environments. The ability to scale
resources dynamically allows for the implementation of robust security
measures, such as intrusion detection systems, firewalls, and encryption
protocols, without causing a degradation in network performance. As cyber
threats become increasingly sophisticated, a scalable cloud infrastructure
enables the quick deployment of security updates and patches to safeguard
against evolving vulnerabilities. However, challenges exist in achieving
seamless scalability in cloud-based smart networking and cybersecurity.
Ensuring interoperability across diverse devices and systems, as well as
addressing potential latency issues during scaling events, requires careful
consideration. Additionally, the effective management of data privacy and
compliance concerns remains crucial in the context of cloud-based
solutions. Scalable computing within cloud infrastructure is a cornerstone
for the efficient management of smart networks and the implementation of
robust cybersecurity measures. As the landscape of smart networking
continues to evolve, the scalability of cloud solutions will be
instrumental in meeting the demands of dynamic and secure digital
ecosystems. Efforts to address challenges and refine scalable cloud
architectures will undoubtedly shape the future of smart networking
management and cybersecurity. A special issue of this journal will combine
advanced cyberinfrastructure techniques and cloud infrastructure and smart
networking management to address the diverse needs and challenges that
cyberinfrastructure face today, as well as security threats. We invite both

About the conference

SAT 2024 is the 27th edition of the International Conference on Theory
and Applications of
Satisfiability Testing (SAT).  The scope of SAT 2024 includes all
aspects of the theory
and applications of propositional satisfiability, broadly construed.
This also includes
Boolean optimization, such as MaxSAT and Pseudo-Boolean (PB)
constraints, Quantified
Boolean Formulas (QBF), Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT), Model

Constraint Programming (CP) for problems with clear connections to

reasoning.

SAT 2024 is the first time that SAT will take place in India. There will

The venue of SAT 2024 is Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Sahyadri Park

is a scenic and well-equipped setting for hosting SAT 2024. The campus

guarantees about their safety, increasing the need for a close interaction
between the Artificial Intelligence and Formal Methods scientific
communities, and possibly leading to the proposal of novel neurosymbolic
approaches.

To witness this increasing need, tools and methodologies integrating Formal
Methods and Artificial Intelligence, and more broadly symbolic and
sub-symbolic solutions, are getting more and more attention, especially
considering the wide-range and pervasive applications of machine and deep
learning models.

The workshop is the main official initiative supported by the OVERLAY
group. The event aims at establishing a stable, long-term scientific forum
on relevant topics connected to the relationships between Artificial
Intelligence and Formal Methods, by providing a stimulating environment
where researchers can discuss opportunities and challenges at the border of
the two areas.

Important goals of the workshop are (i) to encourage the ongoing
interaction between the formal methods and artificial intelligence
communities, (ii) to identify innovative tools and methodologies, and (iii)
to elicit a discussion on open issues and new challenges.

This year's edition will be held on November 28th and 29th, 2024, in
Bolzano, Italy.

We accept extended abstracts (5 pages + references) focusing on the
interaction between Artificial Intelligence and Formal Methods and on the
issue of symbolic/sub-symbolic integration. Invited talks will complement
the presentations of contributed papers.

Contributed papers can present recent results at the border of the two
fields, new research directions, challenges and perspectives. Presentation
of results recently published in other scientific journals or conferences
is also welcome.

We plan to include all papers in the Proceedings of the event, published at
CEUR Workshop Proceedings. CEUR WS proceedings are archival proceedings
indexed by DBLP and Scopus.

Submitted papers should not exceed five (5) pages plus references. Authors
are asked to use the Overlay-specific CEURART LaTeX style, available on the
website. Authors of accepted papers will have the possibility to extend
their submissions for the final camera-ready version to eight (8) pages
plus references.
