[DMANET] Workshop on discrete geometry with a view on symplectic and tropical geometry --- Call for participation

--- Invitation --- Workshop on discrete geometry with a view on symplectic
and tropical geometry --- Call for participation

Dear friends and colleagues,

we would like to announce the following workshop

Workshop on discrete geometry with a view on symplectic and tropical
geometry

from September 23rd until the 27th 2019

at the University of Cologne, Germany.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together mathematicians with an
interest in discrete geometry and its applications to symplectic and
tropical geometry. We would like to create new discussions among people
with diverse backgrounds (combinatorial, algebra-geometric, symplectic)
about problems that received attention in recent years, like those arising
in Ehrhart theory, the geometry of toric Fano varieties, the Mukai
conjecture, toric degenerations, and the tropical Schottky problem. The
schedule of the workshop will be relaxed with plenty of time for informal
discussions.

Invited speakers: Matthias Beck (San Francisco), Alexander Caviedes Castro
(Cologne), Mathieu Dutour Sikiric (Zagreb), Oliver Goertsches (Marburg),
Johannes Hofscheier (McMaster University), Mario Kummer (Berlin),
Christopher Manon (Kentucky), Raman Sanyal (Frankfurt), Karin Schaller
(Tübingen), Kristine Shaw (Oslo), Filippo Viviani (Rome), Robin de Jong
(Leiden), Timo de Wolff (Braunschweig)

Registration and further information: see workshop webpage

http://www.mi.uni-koeln.de/dg-workshop-2019/

It will be constantly updated with relevant information.

Participation is free, please register by sending an email to
workshop_cologne2019@math.uni-koeln.de before September 1 so that we can
organize the catering. We will also be able to finance some of the
participants, paying for them the accommodation in Cologne. If you would
like to apply for financial support, please send an email to
workshop_cologne2019@math.uni-koeln.de by the July 15 with your cv.

Please feel free to forward this email to whomever may be interested.

Best regards and hope to see you in Cologne,
Silvia Sabatini
Frank Vallentin (Organizers)

and dynamics (Cologne/Bochum)
