The application deadline for the postdoctoral positions outlined below has
been extended to *November 15*.
These positions are part of the project "Theory and Applications of
Simplicial Distributions," funded by the U.S. Air Force Office of
Scientific Research. We invite applications from candidates with expertise
in quantum information theory and algebraic topology.
Simplicial distributions merge simplicial sets with probability theory to
model distributions in quantum theory. The special properties of these
distributions can yield quantum advantages in computation. In this theory,
algebraic topology and polyhedral combinatorics intersect in fascinating
ways, contributing to the foundations of quantum advantage by solving
vertex/facet enumeration problems for the resulting distribution polytopes.
Additionally, category-theoretic methods provide valuable tools for
exploring various properties of simplicial distributions.
We also welcome applications from researchers with a strong background in
related fields, including category theory, polyhedral combinatorics, graph
theory, and optimization.
Applications should be submitted via MathJobs (
https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/list/25271) by November 15, 2024. For any
inquiries, please feel free to reach out.
