Papers:

A submitted paper should clearly motivate the importance of the
problem being addressed, discuss prior work and its relationship to
the paper, explicitly and precisely state the paper's key
contributions, and outline the key technical ideas and methods used to
achieve the main claims. A submission should strive to be accessible
to a broad audience, as well as having sufficient details for experts
in the area.

There are two types of submissions: regular papers and brief
announcements. Regular papers must report on original research that
has not previously been published (and may not be concurrently
submitted to other journals or conferences with proceedings). All
ideas necessary for an expert to fully verify the central claims in a
paper, including experimental results, should be included in the
submission.

A brief announcement may describe work in progress or work presented
elsewhere. A brief announcement may also present a result that is
short and elegant, but does not require a longer paper. It may also be
used to announce a software distribution or an experimental results of
interest that can be concisely described.

Submission format:

Submissions must be in English in pdf format and they must be prepared
using the LaTeX style template for LIPIcs
(https://submission.dagstuhl.de/documentation/authors) with

\documentclass[a4paper,anonymous,USenglish]{lipics-v2019}.

Submissions must be anonymous, without any author names, affiliations,
or email addresses. The contact information of the authors will be
entered separately in HotCRP.

For regular papers, there is no page limit, and authors are encouraged
to use the "full version" of their paper as the submission. The
initial 15 pages should contain a clear presentation of the merits of
the paper, including a discussion of the paper's importance within the
context of prior work and a description of the key technical and
conceptual ideas used to achieve its main claims. (Illustrative
figures are encouraged.) The submission must contain full proofs of
all claims in the paper.

Although there is no bound on the length of a submission, material
other than the first 15 pages will be read at the committee's
discretion. Papers submitted as brief announcements should comply with
the above rules, replacing 15 pages with 5 pages.

Submissions not conforming to the submission guidelines and papers
outside of the scope of the conference will be rejected without
consideration.

Anonymous Submissions:

We will use a relaxed implementation of double-blind peer review.
Submissions must not reveal the identity of the authors in any way. In
particular, authors' names and affiliation should not appear in the
document itself. Authors should ensure that any references to their
own related work are in the third person (e.g., not "We build on our
previous work …" but rather "We build on the work of …"). The purpose
of this process is to help PC members and external reviewers come to
an initial judgment about the paper without bias, not to make it
impossible for them to discover the authors if they were to try.

You are free to disseminate your work through arXiv and other online
repositories and give presentations on your work as usual. Moreover,
nothing should be done in the name of anonymity that weakens the
submission or makes the job of reviewing the paper more difficult. In
particular, important references should not be omitted or anonymized.

Brief announcements should also be submitted without author names and
affiliations so that a reviewer can form an initial judgment without
bias, but they can contain a reference to the full version of the work
in the bibliography.

Authors with further questions on double-blind reviewing are
encouraged to contact the PC chair by email.

Please feel free to ask the PC chair if you have any questions about
the double-blind policy of DISC 2020.

Conflict of Interest

The submission form provides an opportunity to specify conflicts of
interest, limited to: (1) family members and close friends; (2) PhD
advisor or advisee (no time limit), or postdoctoral or undergraduate
mentor/mentee within past 5 years; (3) people with the same
affiliation; (4) someone involved in an alleged incident of harassment
(with no requirement of a formal report), (5) collaborators who
jointly authored papers within the last two years.

If you feel that you have a valid reason for a conflict of interest
not listed above, or any other issues related to the fair treatment of
your submission, contact the PC chair or the SafeTOC representative
for DISC (which can be found on the DISC webpage).

Publication

The proceedings will be published by LIPIcs. The final version of the
paper has to be formatted following the LIPIcs guidelines. Regular
papers will have 15 pages in the final proceedings (excluding
references), and brief announcements will have 3 pages in the
proceedings (including everything). If more space is needed, the
authors are encouraged to post the full version e.g. on arXiv and
refer to it in their paper.

Accepted papers and brief announcements must be presented by one of
the authors, with a full registration and according to the final
schedule. Any submission accepted into the technical program but not
presented on-site will be withdrawn from the final proceedings.

Awards

Awards will be given to the best paper and the best student paper. To
be eligible for the best student paper award at least one of the paper
authors must be a full-time student at the time of submission, and the
student(s) must have made a significant contribution to the paper.

IJTCS 2021 is an International Joint Conference on Theoretical Computer Science to be held on August 16-20, 2021, cooperated with Peking University in Beijing. And IJTCS2021 is just the second time IJTCS. IJTCS 2021 will cooperate with CSIAM and CCF to provide you with a feast of theoretical computer science.


This meeting welcomes author submission of papers concerning any branch of the theoretical computer science, together with focus tracks in Algorithmic Game Theory, Blockchain, Multi-agent Reinforcement Learning, Quantum Computation, Theory of Machine Learning, Machine Learning, and Formal Method, and Algorithm and Complexity. We will also host a Female Scientist Forum, a Young PhD Forum, and an Undergraduate Research Forum.

Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit an abstract of one page or an extended abstract of no more than 12 pages, excluding references and the front page(s) (authors, affiliation, keywords, abstract, ...), presenting original research on the theory of computer science. The specific requirements of submissions may be different in each track. All submissions must be formatted in the LNCS style and submitted via Easychair to the appropriate track of the conference, using the following link:

The use of pdflatex and the LNCS style are mandatory: papers that deviate significantly from the required format may be rejected without consideration of merit.


No prior publication and no simultaneous submission to other publication outlets (either a conference or a journal) are allowed.


Technical details necessary for a proper scientific evaluation of a submission must be included in the 12-page submission or in a clearly labeled appendix, to be consulted at the discretion of program committee members. Authors are strongly encouraged to also make full versions of their submissions freely accessible in an on-line repository such as ArXiv, HAL, ECCC.


Every accepted paper requires at least one author to attend the meeting and deliver the talk. The paper may be excluded from the proceedings if none of the authors attends the conference.

The program committee of the 31st International Conference on Automated Planning
and Scheduling (ICAPS) invites submissions of published journal papers for the
Journal Presentations Track, initiated in 2014.

The track is designed to provide a forum to discuss important results related to
automated planning and scheduling that appeared recently (from January 2020
onwards) in selective journals, but have not been previously presented either at
ICAPS or at any other major AI conference (such as IJCAI, AAAI, ECAI).

The goal of this track is twofold:

To provide authors an opportunity to present at the conference important results
published in journals that might otherwise not be submitted to the conference
due to their length and complexity. Papers that differ from traditional ICAPS
format and topics are welcome.

To broaden the program with lines of work at the intersection between
planning/scheduling and related fields such as for example constraint
programming, operations research, control, knowledge representation and
reasoning, machine learning, multi-agent systems, robotics, transportation,
computer games, and cognitive science. Papers that use planning and scheduling
in some innovative way (even if they do not advance the planning technology
itself) are welcome.


Paper Presentation

All accepted journal presentations will be presented orally during the
conference – at least one author is expected to register to ICAPS 2021 and to
present the paper online. Complete citations, abstracts and URLs of the original
journal papers (if available from the publisher) will be published on the ICAPS
2021 web site as a permanent reference.


Submission Requirements

Journal track submissions must meet the following criteria:

Candidate papers must be published in a journal such as (but not limited to)
AIJ, JAIR, EJOR, AURO, JAAMAS, KER and other leading journals relevant to each
research area from January 2020 until the submission deadline. Papers that are
in press may be submitted as long as the final camera-ready version is
available. Extensions of papers that have been previously presented at ICAPS or
another major AI conference (such as IJCAI, AAAI, ECAI) may be submitted to this
track. However, submissions will be reviewed upon the strength of the new content.


Submission Process

All submissions will be done via EasyChair using
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icaps2021. The submission will be in
the following format (please include all elements other than the original paper
as a zip archive in the supplementary material):

- Title of the original journal paper (to be published on the Web);
- Complete reference of the original paper (to be published on the Web);
- URL where the paper can be downloaded from the publisher if available, or
alternatively a preprint (to be published on the Web);
- Abstract of the paper (to be published on the Web);
- An accompanying cover letter containing a brief summary of the key results and
contributions. It is crucial to include information about importance of the
paper and its contributions for the ICAPS community;
- A copy of the paper with its final camera-ready contents.

Submissions will go through an expedited selection process led by the track
chairs. Selection criteria include significance of the results together with the
relevance to the planning and scheduling community.

The International Conferences on Conceptual Structures (ICCS) focus on
the formal analysis and representation of conceptual knowledge, at the
crossroads of artificial intelligence, human cognition, computational
linguistics, and related areas of computer science and cognitive
science. The ICCS conferences evolved from a series of seven annual
workshops on conceptual graphs, starting with an informal gathering
hosted by John F. Sowa in 1986. Recently, graph-based knowledge
representation and reasoning (KRR) paradigms are getting more and more
attention. With the rise of quasi-autonomous AI, graph-based
representations provide a vehicle for making machine cognition
explicit to its human users. This year ICCS 2021 is a part of "Bolzano
Summer of Knowledge" (BOSK 2021,https://summerofknowledge.inf.unibz.it/)
which will take place in Bolzano, Italy during the month of September, 2021.
Scholars, students and industry participants from different
disciplines will meet for several weeks of conferences, workshops,
summer schools, and public events, to engage with the broad topics,
issues and challenges related to knowledge in the 21st century.


Submissions are invited on significant, original, and previously
unpublished research on the formal analysis and representation of
conceptual knowledge in artificial intelligence (AI). All papers will
receive mindful and rigorous reviews that will provide authors with
useful critical feedback. The aim of the ICCS 2021 conference is to
build upon its long-standing expertise in graph-based KRR and focus on
providing modelling, formal and application results of graph-based
systems. The conference welcomes contributions that address
graph-based representation and reasoning paradigms (e.g. Bayesian

We invite scientific papers of up to *fourteen pages*, short
contributions up to *eight pages* and extended poster abstracts of up
to three pages. Papers and posters must be formatted according to
Springer's LNCS style guidelines and not exceed the page limit. Papers
will be subject to *double-blind peer review*, in which the reviewers
do not know the identity of authors, and the submission should be done
via EasyChair https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iccs20211. All
paper submissions will be refereed and authors will have the
opportunity to respond to reviewers' comments during the rebuttal
phase. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings,
which are will be published by Springer in the LNCS/LNAI
series. Poster submissions will also be refereed but will not be
included in the conference proceedings. At least one author of each
accepted paper or poster must register for the conference and present
the paper or poster there. Proceedings will be submitted for

[DMANET] Postdoctoral Position (Foundations of Algorithms) in Kyoto

We invite applications for a two-year postdoctoral researcher position
at the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS), Kyoto
University, Japan.

The position is funded by the project "Algorithmic Foundations for
Social Advancement (AFSA)" (Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research
Areas, MEXT, Japan). The researcher's job is to conduct world-leading
research on topics of his/her choice matching the project's sub-theme
B04: Exploration and Development of the Basic Theory of Algorithms.

The starting date shall be July 1, 2021, or as soon as possible
thereafter. The appointment is for two years, with possible extension
(until March 31, 2025 at the longest). The monthly salary will be
300000-500000 Japanese yen, determined by the qualifications of the
candidate.

The field of Artificial Intelligence stands at an inflection point, and

range of perspectives and contributions are needed, spanning the full
spectrum from fundamental research to sustained deployments in the
real-world.

This workshop will explore how AI research can contribute to solving
challenging problems faced by current-day societies. For example, what role
can AI research play in promoting health, sustainable development and
infrastructure security? How can AI initiatives be used to achieve
consensus among a set of negotiating self-interested entities (e.g.,
finding resolutions to trade talks between countries)? To address such
questions, this workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners
across different strands of AI research and a wide range of important
real-world application domains. The objective is to share the current state
of research and practice, explore directions for future work, and create
opportunities for collaboration. In addition, the workshop will place a
special emphasis on highlighting AI approaches for tackling the COVID-19
pandemic. The organizers believe that AI research has an important role to
play in providing unique insights about the pandemic and developing
targeted responses; we encourage submissions from both AI researchers as
well as epidemiologists, health policy researchers, and other domain
experts who are interested in engaging with the IJCAI community.

The PhD student will work for the EU funded SEC-OREA (Supporting Energy Communities - Operational Research and Energy Analytics) project. The main tasks will be to define and efficiently solve new bilevel optimization models representing the hierarchical decision making process among stakeholders in a local energy communities integrating renewable energy production facilities.



SEC-OREA is funded under the EU CHIST ERA programme. It enables local energy communities (LECs) to participate in the decarbonisation of the energy sector by developing advanced efficient algorithms and analytics technologies. LECs are an efficient way to manage energy by increasing the use of renewable energy sources (RES) at a local level. We aim to co-create an overarching LEC enabling framework with our stakeholders. Our goal is to create technical tools to empower citizens and place them at the core of the Energy Union.

The consortium brings together expertise from Business, Climatology, Computational Methods, Secure ICT, and Power Systems. We reach across the EU with researchers, innovators and stakeholders in Belgium, France, Ireland, Latvia and Portugal. Strong stakeholders include a national meteorological service, municipalities and energy agencies who support the development of LECs, and a distribution system operator (DSO). PIs include Dr. Paula Carroll (UCD), Dr. Luce Brotcorne (INRIA) and Prof. Bernard Fortz (ULB).

Candidates must hold a master degree in computer sciences, mathematics, or operations research. Knowledge of optimization solvers and a strong background in programming are welcomed. ALGOCLOUD 2021 is co-located with ALGO 2021, a leading international
event of researchers working on algorithms and their engineering.

ALGOCLOUD welcomes submissions on all theoretical, design, and
implementation aspects of modern cloud-based systems. ALGOCLOUD is
particularly interested in novel algorithms in the context of cloud
computing, cloud architectures, as well as experimental work that
evaluates contemporary cloud approaches and pertinent applications.
ALGOCLOUD also
welcomes demonstration manuscripts, which discuss successful system
developments, as well as experience/use-case articles and high-quality
survey papers. Contributions may span a wide range of algorithms for

ALGOCLOUD 2021 asks for the following types of submissions:

- Regular paper submissions: authors are invited to submit high-quality
manuscripts reporting original unpublished research in the topics
related to the symposium. A regular paper submission should clearly
motivate the importance of the problem being addressed, discuss prior
work and its relationship to the paper, explicitly and precisely state
the paper's key contributions, and outline the key technical ideas and
methods used to achieve the main results. A regular paper submission
should not exceed 12 pages including title page and abstract, but
excluding references and an optional appendix. Authors should include
all necessary details in their submission so that the Program Committee
can judge correctness, importance and originality of their work. Any
material (e.g., proofs or experimental results) omitted (from the main
part of 12 pages) due to space limitations can be put into the optional
appendix, which will be read at the Program Committee's discretion.
Regular papers will be allotted up to 20 pages in the proceedings.

- Short paper submissions: a short paper submission may present
work-in-progress on a specific topic, or work appeared elsewhere (but is
worth publicizing it in the symposium), or a demonstration of a system
or library, or an experience/use-case paper, or a vision paper. Authors
should clearly motivate the importance of their contribution, discuss
prior work and its relationship to the paper, and in general provide
sufficient details in their submission so that the Program Committee can
judge the quality and importance of their work. A short paper submission
should be at least 2 and at most 8 pages. Short papers will be allotted
up to 8 pages in the proceedings.

- Survey paper submissions: a survey paper submission concerns the
write-up of a high-quality survey paper on an emerging hot topic.
Authors are asked to submit a proposal between 5 and 10 pages that
clearly motivates the importance of the topic, and contains the
structure of the survey paper along with the most important references
that will be critically reviewed and presented. If the proposal is
accepted, then authors will be given sufficient time (until end of
October 2021) to prepare the full version of their survey paper that
needs to pass a quality control check by the PC, in order to be finally
accepted and appear in the proceedings. Survey papers will be allotted
up to 40 pages in the proceedings.

All papers should be submitted electronically via the EasyChair
submission system through the link which will be available at the
ALGOCLOUD 2021 website.

By submitting a paper the authors acknowledge that in case of acceptance
at least one of the authors must register at ALGO/ALGOCLOUD 2021 and
present the paper (this holds for all types of papers, including
accepted survey proposals).

Authors should consult Springer's authors' instructions and use their
proceedings templates, either for LaTeX or for Word, for the preparation
of their papers. Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in
their papers. In addition, the corresponding author of each paper,
acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper, must complete and
sign a Consent-to-Publish form. The corresponding author signing the
copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the
paper. Once the files have been sent to Springer, changes relating to
the authorship of the papers cannot be made.

Accepted papers will be included in the post-proceedings published by
Springer in its Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.


AWARDS
----------
Awards will be given to the best regular paper and the best student
regular paper. A regular paper is eligible for the best student paper
award if at least one of the authors is a full-time student (Bachelor,
Master, or Ph.D.) at the time of submission and the student(s) must have
made a major contribution to the paper. The program committee can decide
to decline or to split the awards. Awards are sponsored by Springer.

[DMANET] Post doc position in theoretical aspects of machine learning

A post doc position in theoretical aspects of machine learning is
available. The post doc is under
the supervision of Associate Professor Kasper Green Larsen, Aarhus
University, Denmark and Full Professor Mikkel Thorup, Copenhagen
University. The focus of the research project is on developing and
analyzing machine learning algorithms in terms of their generalization
performance. Candidates with expertise in theoretical computer science
and/or machine learning are preferred.

The daily work will be carried out in the Algorithms group at Aarhus
University, but also with regular visits at the BARC Basic Algorithms
Research Copenhagen group at Copenhagen University. The project is
funded by DIREC - Digital Research Center Denmark, a national centre
for research, innovation and education in digital technologies with
the purpose of expanding the capacity within research and education in
Denmark.

This talk considers stochastic scheduling, where job sizes and arrival
times are drawn from a distribution. As empirical job size variability
has skyrocketed, stochastic scheduling research has grown increasingly
important. What scheduling policies should we use to keep response times
low? How should we schedule when job sizes are unknown or only partially
known? What scheduling policies should we use in a multi-server (M/G/k)
setting, as compared with a single-server (M/G/1) setting? How can we
analyze the response times of scheduling policies in single-server and
multi-server settings? In this talk, we discuss recent breakthroughs
over the last 3 years in the area of stochastic scheduling. These
include: (1) The SOAP scheduling framework, which greatly expands the
class of scheduling policies whose response times we can now analyze in
the M/G/1 setting. (2) The first response time analysis of common
scheduling policies in the M/G/k. (3) Asymptotically optimal scheduling

such as infrastructure inspection and surveillance, smart agriculture, seek
and rescue, parcel delivery, communications, and post-disaster recovery. In
all these applications, UAVs may coexist with ground Internet of Things
(IoT) devices. For example, UAVs autonomously perform remote sensing
relaying the collected data by the sensors. Moreover, single or multiple
UAVs can cooperatively collaborate providing services that require
efficient protocols where multiple objectives and constraints should be
accounted for.


For this workshop, we seek papers that combine the design of algorithms and
testbed implementations to develop the theoretical foundations for UAVs as
well as the synergies with IoT devices. The numerous emergent applications
raised by IoT may require an interdisciplinary approach, involving
techniques from algorithm foundations and different areas, such as computer
networks, artificial intelligence, concurrent, parallel and distributed
computing, security, digital signal, image and sound processing.

WiDroIt topics of interest. Please use the US letter size (8.5 x 11 in)
standard IEEE conference LaTeX format or Microsoft Word template available

Full papers should have a maximum of eight (8) printed pages including

[DMANET] Ph.D. and PostDoc positions in Algorithms at IDSIA, USI-SUPSI, Switzerland

The Algorithms and Complexity Group of IDSIA, USI-SUPSI, Lugano
(Switzerland), opens 2 Ph.D. positions and some PostDoc positions.

These positions are supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation project
"Approximation Algorithms for Resource Scheduling"
(November 2021-October 2025)
The main goal of this project is to design improved approximation
algorithms for a wide family of applications. Besides the classical
(offline, centralized) setting, the group is also interested in
algorithms for distributed, dynamic and online settings.

The Ph.D. positions are for 4 years (no extension is possible), and
they are supposed to start on November 1st 2021 with moderate
flexibility. The gross salary is around 50.000 CHF per year, with low
taxes. The position involves a moderate teaching load (as teaching
assistant) at USI. There is generous travel support. Candidates should
hold (or be close to obtaining) a Master Degree in Computer Science or
related areas. A solid background in Algorithms, Computational
Complexity, Discrete Mathematics, Probability Theory, and/or Graph
Theory is helpful. A good knowledge of written and spoken English is
also required (while knowledge of Italian is not needed).

The PostDoc positions are initially for 1 year, but an extension by 1
extra year is expected (further extensions are possible in exceptional
cases). The project supports 2 PostDoc positions per year on average.
The gross salary is around 80.000 CHF per year, with low taxes. There
are no teaching duties and there is generous travel support.
Candidates should hold (or be close to obtaining) a Ph.D. in Computer
Science or related areas, and should have a solid
publication record in the area of TCS (with a
preference for approximation algorithms). Top conferences in this area
include STOC, FOCS, SODA, and ICALP.

IDSIA offers an international working environment. Lugano is a tidy
and lively town, with a wonderful view on Ceresio lake and mountains
around. Ticino Canton offers many opportunities for hiking, biking,
skiing, etc. Local restaurants serve very good (Italian style!) food.
