The 33rd International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI 2024) will be held in Jeju Island, South Korea, from August 3rd to August 9th, 2024. The technical program committee invites the submission of demos.

The two primary goals of the Demonstration (Demo) Track are to

(1) provide a platform for exchanging inspiring ideas between theory and practice, and
(2) showcase the applicability of different AI systems to real-world problems.

Accepted demo papers will be included in the IJCAI proceedings. In addition, an Innovation Award will be given to an outstanding demonstration with the most original and significant research methodologies.

Topics

As the premier general conference on AI, IJCAI 2024 welcomes submissions across all areas of AI. The Demonstration Track of IJCAI 2024 follows this principle, though with an emphasis on the applicability of AI to practice. Moreover, the track scope includes (but is not limited to) the following subfields of AI:

We encourage all submissions that describe innovative, high-quality AI research addressing real-world problems. Demos are expected to show the applicability of different AI, emphasizing the issues that must be addressed to put them into practice.

We welcome all demo submissions. However, if the demo has a strong focus on robotics, then we would suggest that the Robot Exhibition might be a better fit.
Authors of papers that are submitted to other IJCAI tracks are welcome to also submit to the Demonstration Track so as to showcase their AI systems. Note that the conference tracks are run separately and there is no explicit coordination offered. Any work submitted to the Demonstration Track is required to follow the requirements and formatting for the track (see Submission Details and Review Process).

The organizers of competitions and challenges in IJCAI 2023 are encouraged to submit a demo paper at IJCAI 2024 following the same demo submission requirements (see Submission Details and Review Process), additionally summarizing their experience at the 2023 conference and results/findings.

Modes of Demo Presentation

IJCAI 2024 will offer two modes of presenting demos:


1.
The traditional demo mode, where the demonstration is presented in a booth during the demonstration session.
2.
A demonstration talk mode, where Demo authors have ten minutes to present their demos in a "frontal" slide/video presentation.


Submission Process

Formatting Guidelines: The updated LaTeX Styles and Word Template are available at https://www.ijcai.org/authors_kit.

Submission Site: The Demonstration Track will share the same CMT installation as most of the other IJCAI 2024 tracks, and authors will go to the IJCAI submission site and choose "Demos" from the drop-down menu.

Keywords: When submitting their paper, authors must choose content area keywords. General categories should only be used if specific categories do not apply or do not accurately reflect the main contributions. The full list of keywords will be available on the submission site.

Submission Requirements

Submissions to the Demonstration Track should describe the system to be demonstrated, the application domain, the problem scenario, the technology used, the AI techniques involved, the original contribution and innovations of the system, live and interactive aspects, etc. Indicate links to any supplementary materials.

In addition, the submitted document has to provide a URL linking to a demonstration video no more than 10 minutes in length. This demo video may be a mixture or combination of an actual demo and voice-over (Powerpoint, PDF slides, etc.) and screencast presentations showing and explaining what happens. Other formats are also possible if they can more clearly illustrate the demo. The essential objective of the demo talk is to give a precise idea of what the demo will look like.

Paper Format: Papers must be formatted according to the IJCAI 2024 guidelines (link above). The submitted document must be a single PDF. Submissions that violate the IJCAI 2024 style (e.g., by decreasing margins or font sizes) will be rejected without review.

Paper Length: The page limit is 5 pages: 3 pages for the main text (including all figures/tables) and up to two additional pages for references. Over-length papers will be rejected without review. For accepted papers, acknowledgments and a contribution statement of each co-author to the paper can be optionally included in the two reference pages.

Anonymity: Submissions are NOT anonymous.

Ethics Statement: Authors may include a statement of the potential broader impact of their work, including its ethical aspects and future societal consequences. This part can be put in either the main body of the paper or on the reference pages. It is optional but is highly recommended for papers working with sensitive data or on sensitive tasks. For additional information, please refer to the "Ethics policy and ethics statement" section of the IJCAI submission guidelines (https://ijcai24.org/call-for-papers/).

Usages of Generative AI: Generative AI models, including Chat-GPT, BARD, LLaMA, or similar LLMs, do not satisfy the criteria for authorship of papers published in IJCAI 2024. If authors use an LLM in any part of the paper-writing process they assume full responsibility for all content, including checking for plagiarism and correctness of all text. We encourage papers that describe research on or involving LLMs. Text generated by an LLM as part of the paper's methodology or experimental analysis is allowed but needs to be properly documented and described in the paper.


Review Process

Papers will be peer-reviewed by program committee members. Selection criteria include originality, innovation, applicability, and potential benefits of the resulting system. Note that there will be no rebuttal phase.

Participation: At least one author of each accepted demo is required to participate and present the work. We are looking forward to the community meeting in person.

SCOPE:

DeepLearn 2024 will be a research training event with a global scope aiming at updating participants on the most recent advances in the critical and fast developing area of deep learning. Previous events were held in Bilbao, Genova, Warsaw, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Guimarães, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Luleå, Bournemouth, Bari and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Deep learning is a branch of artificial intelligence covering a spectrum of current frontier research and industrial innovation that provides more efficient algorithms to deal with large-scale data in a huge variety of environments: computer vision, neurosciences, speech recognition, language processing, human-computer interaction, drug discovery, health informatics, medical image analysis, recommender systems, advertising, fraud detection, robotics, games, finance, biotechnology, physics experiments, biometrics, communications, climate sciences, geographic information systems, signal processing, genomics, materials design, video technology, social systems, etc. etc.

The field is also raising a number of relevant questions about robustness of the algorithms, explainability, transparency, and important ethical concerns at the frontier of current knowledge that deserve careful multidisciplinary discussion.

Most deep learning subareas will be displayed, and main challenges identified through 18 four-hour and a half courses, 2 keynote lectures, 1 round table and a few hackathon-type competitions among students, which will tackle the most active and promising topics. Renowned academics and industry pioneers will lecture and share their views with the audience. The organizers are convinced that outstanding speakers will attract the brightest and most motivated students. Face to face interaction and networking will be main ingredients of the event. It will be also possible to fully participate in vivo remotely.

ADDRESSED TO:

Graduate students, postgraduate students and industry practitioners will be typical profiles of participants. However, there are no formal pre-requisites for attendance in terms of academic degrees, so people less or more advanced in their career will be welcome as well.

Since there will be a variety of levels, specific knowledge background may be assumed for some of the courses.

Overall, DeepLearn 2024 is addressed to students, researchers and practitioners who want to keep themselves updated about recent developments and future trends. All will surely find it fruitful to listen to and discuss with major researchers, industry leaders and innovators.

DeepLearn 2024 will take place in Porto, the second largest city in Portugal, recognized by UNESCO in 1996 as a World Heritage Site. The venue will be:

STRUCTURE:

3 courses will run in parallel during the whole event. Participants will be able to freely choose the courses they wish to attend as well as to move from one to another.

All lectures will be videorecorded. Participants will be able to watch them again for 45 days after the event.

An open session will give participants the opportunity to present their own work in progress in 5 minutes. Also companies will be able to present their technical developments for 10 minutes.

This year's edition of the school will schedule hands-on activities including mini-hackathons, where participants will work in teams to tackle several machine learning challenges.

Full live online participation will be possible. The organizers highlight, however, the importance of face to face interaction and networking in this kind of research training event.

HACKATHONS:

Hackathons will take place, where participants will work in teams to tackle several machine learning challenges. They will be coordinated by Professor Sergei V. Gleyzer. The challenges will be released 2 weeks before the beginning of the school. A jury will judge the submissions and the winners of each challenge will be announced on the final day. The winning teams will receive a small prize and the runners-up will get a certificate.

EMPLOYERS:

Organizations searching for personnel well skilled in deep learning will be provided a space for one-to-one contacts.

It is recommended to produce a 1-page .pdf leaflet with a brief description of the organization and the profiles looked for to be circulated among the participants prior to the event. People in charge of the search must register for the event.

The International conference MCU series traces its roots back to the mid
90's, and has always been concerned with gaining a deeper understanding
of computation and universality through the study of models of general
purpose computation. The MCU conference series was initiated in Paris
(1995). Following editions were held in Metz (1998), Chisinau (2001),
St. Petersburg (2004), Orleans (2007), Zurich (2013), Famagusta (2015),
and Fontainebleau, (2018). The 2020 edition was supposed to be held in
Wien, Austria but was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.

The 9th edition of MCU took place at the University of Debrecen in
Hungary, it is co-located with DCFS 2022 (24th International Conference
on the Descriptional Complexity of Formal Systems, August 29-31) and
NCMA 2022 (12th International Workshop on Non-Classical Models of
Automata and Applications, August 26-27).

The 10th edition will take place at the Université Côte d'Azur in Nice, France
on an hybrid form (both in person and online). The conference is co-located
with CMC 2024 (Conference on Membrane Computing) which will took
from June 3rd to June 5th, 2024.

SCOPE
The scope of the conference topics includes, but is not limited to,
computation in the setting of various discrete models (Turing machines,

hybrid models (BSS machines, infinite time cellular automata, real
machines, quantum computing...) and the meaning and implantation of
universality in these contexts. Particular emphasis is given towards

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Authors of accepted papers are expected to present their results at the
conference. Submitted papers must describe work not previously
published, and they must neither be accepted nor under review at a
journal or at another conference with refereed proceedings. Authors are
required to submit their manuscripts electronically in PDF using the
LNCS style. Authors using LaTeX can download the needed macros at
Springer-Verlag site. Papers should not exceed 15 pages; full proofs may
appear in a clearly marked technical appendix which will be read at the
reviewers' discretion.

The submission process is managed by EasyChair and will open in February 2024.
The proceedings will be available after the conference as post-proceedings in
the LNCS series by Springer Verlag (to be confirmed).

A selection of papers will be invited to submit extended versions for
publication in a special issue of an international journal (contacts in
progress).

**SCOPE**
Recently, the rapid development of Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, has highlighted a plethora of emergent applications such as infrastructure inspection and surveillance, smart agriculture, seek and rescue, parcel delivery, communications, and post-disaster recovery. In all these applications UAVs may coexist with ground Internet of Things (IoT) devices. For example, UAVs autonomously perform remote sensing relaying the collected data by the sensors. Additionally, one or more UAVs can collaborate to provide services that require efficient protocols where multiple objectives and constraints need to be considered.

For this workshop, we seek papers that combine the design of algorithms and testbed implementations to develop the theoretical foundations for UAVs as well as the synergies with IoT devices. The numerous emergent applications raised by IoT may require an interdisciplinary approach involving techniques from algorithm foundations and different areas, such as computer networks, artificial intelligence, concurrent, parallel, and distributed computing, security, digital signal, image, and sound processing.

We invite PhD students working in the broad research areas served by AAMAS to take part in the Doctoral Consortium (DC) of AAMAS-2024. The DC is an opportunity to interact closely with established researchers in your field as well as other students, to receive feedback on your work, and to get advice on managing your career.

Each accepted student will be matched with an established researcher from the community who will act as the student's mentor. The mentor will interact closely with the student, will provide feedback on research and career management questions, and help foster new contacts. Each accepted student also will have the opportunity to present their work to their peers and senior members of the community attending. The programme will be completed with an informal lunch for participating students and mentors as well as a panel discussion focusing on questions of career management.

The DC is specifically intended for PhD students who already have a concrete research proposal and preliminary results, but who still have sufficient time before the completion of their dissertation so as to be able to benefit from the DC experience. Preference will be given to students satisfying these criteria, but well-motivated applications from students who are at earlier or later stages of their doctoral studies will also be considered.

1. Application package: A complete application package to the DC should be submitted as a single PDF and should have the following components (in this order):

* Extended abstract (2 pages + 1 page of references) motivating and describing your PhD topic and outlining some of the results obtained so far as well as your plans for continuing the work.
* Personal statement (1 page) with citations and brief discussions of up to five papers that have inspired your own research.
* Curriculum vitae (at most 2 pages), including your list of publications.

The extended abstract must be formatted using the official AAMAS-2024 submission format, including abstract and keywords. Look at the proceedings of past editions of AAMAS for inspiration for how to write such a document.

These should be established members of the AAMAS research community who would typically attend the conference. For inspiration, look at the listings of PC and SPC members of recent editions of the conference and ask your supervisor for advice.

If your application is accepted, your extended abstract (and none of the other components of your application package) will get published in the official AAMAS-2024 conference proceedings.

The Mathematical Optimization Society invites nominations for the 2024 A.W.
Tucker Prize to be awarded at the International Symposium on Mathematical
Programming (ISMP) in Montreal, Canada (July 21 - 26, 2024). The prize is
awarded to an outstanding doctoral dissertation defended (and degree
awarded) between January 1, 2021 and January 1, 2024.

The deadline for nominations is January 15, 2024. The nominator must be a
faculty member at the institution that awarded the nominee's doctoral
degree or a member of the nominee's dissertation committee. Applications
should consist of the following four files, each of which should be
submitted as a single, separate PDF file:

- a letter of nomination,
- the nominee's dissertation,
- a summary of the dissertation's contributions, written by the nominee,
that is no more than five (5) pages in length, and
- a brief biographical sketch of the nominee.

The 20th International Conference on Distributed Computing in Smart Systems and the Internet of Things (DCOSS-IoT 2024) will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The conference was previously known as DCOSS. Starting in 2023, the event is broadening its scope beyond sensor networks to include smart systems in general and the Internet of Things (IoT). The updated name is "Distributed Computing in Smart Systems and the Internet of Things" (DCOSS-IoT).

In the last few years, we have witnessed significant growth in the use of IoT and distributed sensor systems in several application areas, including smart transportation, smart energy systems, smart homes and buildings, smart healthcare, and environmental monitoring. For smart sensor systems to truly become useful and pervasive, we need to address several research challenges, including the tight integration of sensing and machine intelligence, reliable and efficient networking, interoperability and scalability, the need for dependable autonomy, interaction with humans, and important aspects of security, privacy and trust. DCOSS-IoT focuses on issues arising in the entire IoT and networked sensor systems stack, covering aspects of high-level abstractions, models and languages, communication technologies, novel algorithms and applications, system design approaches and architectures, and tools for simulated and real deployments. Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts demonstrating current research on distributed smart systems and IoT related to the aforementioned topics of interest. Please use the US letter size (8.5 X 11 in) standard IEEE conference LaTeX format or Microsoft Word template available on: http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html.

All submissions should be written in English and have a maximum of eight (8) printed pages, including figures and references. Two (2) additional pages at 100$/page for supplementary material only (such as theorems, proofs, implementation details) are allowed. Starting last year, DCOSS-IoT will follow a double-blind review process. As a result, authors must make a good faith effort to anonymize their submissions. Although submission is double-blind, the existence or availability of non-anonymous preprints (on arXiv or other preprint servers) will not lead to your paper being rejected. Reviewers will be instructed not to look for such preprints actively but encountering them will not constitute a conflict of interest. Papers that do not meet the size, formatting, and anonymization requirements will not be reviewed. [DMANET] Research positions on Algorithms for (Temporal) Graphs at University of Florence, Italy

At DISIA (Dipartimento di Statistica, Informatica, Applicazioni) of
University of Florence, we offer two positions, a fellowship and a postdoc
position on Algorithms for (Temporal) Graphs under the supervision of

Title: Algorithms for Exploratory Analysis of (Temporal) Graphs

Description: Research within the field of algorithm design for the analysis
of large real-world networks, with particular focus on transportation
networks. Such networks can be effectively modeled using graphs,
representing mobility and points of interest (POIs), while neglecting
specific uninteresting aspects. Hence, discovering the most
important POIs (centrality), measuring the efficiency of the network
(flow), making the network more robust (network design) can be translated
into problems on graphs. Also, studying indexes and finding clusters, i.e.
well-connected POIs, can help to better visualize the network together with
its constraints. We plan to design efficient
(listing) algorithms to find relevant structures able to guide the
exploration of transportation networks. We will also take into
consideration the dynamic nature of the networks using temporal graphs.
Indeed, in public transportation network connections are available only at
prescribed times, in the same way as in public transportation systems buses
and trains follow a time schedule, meaning that paths are valid only if the
connections are time consistent. In this scenario, classical notions of
graph theory must be rethought taking into account these additional temporal
constraints. The design of new graph algorithms will possibly be integrated
with implementations and practical experiments on real world transportation
networks.

Title: Algorithms for Graph Based Analysis of DLT Systems

Description: Most modern decentralized systems, as cryptocurrency systems
like Bitcoin and Ethereum, rely on Distributed Ledger Technology to manage
data in a decentralized fashion. By design, data is publicly available and
can be gathered in an automatic way. Ledgers typically store timed
relations among the entities involved, endowed with additional information.
These relations can be formally represented as labeled temporal graphs,
which can be heterogeneous depending on the roles of the entities involved.
The objective is to provide efficient algorithms and tools to analyse such
graphs. This objective includes: (i) The design of a unified theoretical
graph model of ledgers under a common format representation. (ii) The
design of an efficient algorithm for storing compact representations of
graphs according to the defined graph model exploiting temporal locality
and similarity in the data. (iii) The
design of efficient data retrieval algorithms for a graph in the defined
graph model. (iv) The design of anomaly detection algorithms that can
benefit from local or global statistics which can help to highlight
peculiar structures, e.g. using (temporal) centrality indexes or analyzing
(temporal) distances statistics between nodes.

Researchers, academics, practitioners, and students interested in any branch of Operational Research, mathematical modelling or economic analysis are invited to submit abstracts or organize sessions.

Invited and contributed talks will be organized in parallel sessions. The sessions are part of conference streams, a list of which will be available in the abstract submission system.

The abstract submission system is available online via the Conference website http://www.euro2024cph.dk/ .

Abstracts (max. 1500 characters) should be submitted until March 3, 2024 .

Each participant can present at most one paper at the Conference.

[DMANET] GIAN Course on Advances in Mixed Integer Nonlinear Optimization -- IIT Bombay

This course is part of the Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) program.

Dates: 15-25th January, 2024

Many design, planning and decision problems arising in engineering, sciences, finance, and statistics can be mathematically modeled as Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Optimization (MINLO) problems. The last two decades have seen a phenomenal growth in the development of theory, algorithms and computational tools for MINLO. Riding on this growth, MINLO has found many applications, and is being used to solve practical problems in various domains.

The 10-day (about 50 hours) course will start with a gentle introduction to MINLO models and motivating practical applications. The next part of the course covers the branch-and-cut paradigm which is central to solving these problems followed by methods for convex MINLOs and nonconvex MINLOs. Heuristic search, cutting plane techniques, reformulation and presolving methods will be covered. The course concludes with discussions on the future trends of MINLO. Tutorials for practice problems and exercises will be conducted each day. Hands-on computational exercises on modeling and using state-of-the-art software will help participants understand practical ways of solving MINLOs.

Industry practitioners have the option of registering for a shorter module spanning six days (15-20 January). It will focus on introduction to MINLO, modeling, software and methods for convex MINLO.

BACKGROUND

The International Conference on Unconventional Computation and Natural Computation (UCNC) series is a forum bringing together scientists from many different backgrounds who are united in their interest in novel forms of computation, human-designed computation inspired by nature, and computational aspects of natural processes. UCNC provides a forum for such scientists to meet and discuss their work. The 21st International Conference on Unconventional Computation and Natural Computation (UCNC 2024) will be held at the Pohang University of Science and Technology, Pohang, Republic of Korea on June 17-21, 2024 and will continue the tradition of focusing on current important theoretical and experimental results and their critical evaluation.

Papers must be submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF).


Accepted papers will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science Series, and authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions for publication in a special issue of Natural Computing.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Submissions to DCFS must not exceed 12 pages in Springer-Verlag's
Lecture Notes style including bibliography. If the authors believe that
more details are essential to substantiate the main claims, they may
include a clearly marked appendix that will be read at the discretion of
the program committee. Simultaneous submissions of papers to any other
conference with published proceedings or submitting previously published
papers is not allowed.  Papers should be submitted electronically as a
PDF document to

The Young Investigator Group "COSYS - Control Systems and Cyber Security Lab" at the Chair of IT Security at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg has open PhD/Postdoc positions in the following areas:

- Privacy-enhancing technologies in cyber-physical systems.
- AI-based network attack detection and simulation.
- AI-enabled penetration testing.

The available positions are funded as 100% TV-L E13 tariff in Germany and limited until 31.07.2026, with possibility for extension.

Candidates must hold a Master's degree (PhD degree for Postdocs) or equivalent in Computer Science or related disciplines, or be close to completing it. The aim of the Developing Countries On-Line Resources page is to provide the OR researcher with all publicly-available materials on the topic of Operations Research for Development. It also aims to provide a venue for people who are working in the area to share their completed or in-process work, learn from others, and stimulate comments and discussions on the work.

The International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) is an almost 60-year-old organization which is currently composed of 51 national societies. Regional Groups of IFORS are: ALIO (The Latin American Ibero Association on Operations Research), APORS (The Association of Asian-Pacific Operational Research Societies), EURO (The Association of European Operational Research Societies), NORAM (The Association of North American Operations Research Societies).
