[DMANET] FLLM2025 (Co-Sponsored by IEEE): The 3nd International Conference on Foundation and Large Language Models, 25-28 November, 2025 | Vienna, Austria

[Apologies if you got multiple copies of this invitation]

The 3nd International Conference on Foundation and Large Language Models
(FLLM2025)

25-28 November, 2025 | Vienna, Austria

Hybrid Conference and Technically Co-Sponsored by IEEE Austrian Section

*FLLM 2025 CFP:*

With the emergence of foundation models (FMs) and Large Language Models
(LLMs) that are trained on large amounts of data at scale and adaptable to
a wide range of downstream applications, Artificial intelligence is
experiencing a paradigm revolution. BERT, T5, ChatGPT, GPT-4, Falcon 180B,
Codex, DALL-E, Whisper, and CLIP are now the foundation for new
applications ranging from computer vision to protein sequence study and
from speech recognition to coding. Earlier models had a reputation of
starting from scratch with each new challenge. The capacity to experiment
with, examine, and comprehend the capabilities and potentials of
next-generation FMs is critical to undertaking this research and guiding
its path. Nevertheless, these models are currently inaccessible as the
resources required to train these models are highly concentrated in
industry, and even the assets (data, code) required to replicate their
training are frequently not released due to their demand in the real-time
industry. At the moment, mostly large tech companies such as OpenAI,
Google, Facebook, and Baidu can afford to construct FMs and LLMS. Despite
the expected widely publicized use of FMs and LLMS, we still lack a
comprehensive knowledge of how they operate, why they underperform, and
what they are even capable of because of their emerging global qualities.
To deal with these problems, we believe that much critical research on FMs
and LLMS would necessitate extensive multidisciplinary collaboration, given
their essentially social and technical structure.

The International Conference on Foundation and Large Language Models (FLLM)
addresses the architectures, applications, challenges, approaches, and
future directions. We invite the submission of original papers on all
topics with special interest in but not limited to:

- *Architectures and Systems*
- Transformers and Attention
- Bidirectional Encoding
- Autoregressive Models
- Massive GPU Systems
- Prompt Engineering
- Multimodal LLMs
- Fine-tuning
- *Challenges*
- Hallucination

- Energy and Sustainability Issues
- Integration
- Safety and Trustworthiness
- Interpretability
- Fairness
- Social Impact
- * Future Directions*
- Generative AI
- Explainability and EXplainable AI
- Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Federated Learning for FLLM
- Large Language Models Fine-Tuning on Graphs
- Data Augmentation
- * Natural Language Processing Applications*
- Generation

- Rewrite
- Search
- Question Answering
- Language Comprehension and Complex Reasoning

(https://www.tugraz.at/institute/atcs/research/group-vogtenhuber/) at TU
Graz, Austria. The group has a broad interest in algorithms and
complexity, currently with a focus on combinatorial, algorithmic, and
complexity-theoretic questions in graph drawing and network
visualization as well as discrete and computational geometry.

Who are we looking for?
Are you particularly attracted by algorithmic and/or combinatorial
questions? Are you also fascinated by geometry, complexity theory, or
discrete mathematics? Ideally, you have a strong background in computer
science or a related field. We expressly encourage students from maths
to apply if they are interested in algorithmic questions and/or like graphs.

What we offer:
The position is fully funded and comes with excellent working
conditions, such as a competitive salary, social security, 25 days of
paid vacation per year, and travel support. Birgit's group is part of
the newly founded, vibrant Institute of Algorithms and Theory, which
currently consists of one full and two associate professors, one
PostDoc, and seven PhD students. The institute in turn is part of the
Faculty of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering and also closely
connected to the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Geodesy, which
provides plenty of potential for collaborations within TU Graz. Birgit's
group has strong ties to several leading research groups in Austria and
internationally. For example, we have ongoing collaborations with the
Graz School of Discrete Mathematics, groups in Vienna, Germany,
Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Mexico. While it is not
formally required, we strongly encourage and support international
collaborations and international research visits. In addition to
research, the position includes participation in teaching and
administrative duties. The starting date of the position is flexible
(preferably before October 2025). Knowledge of German is welcome but not
necessary.

Graz is known for its quality of life, a large amount of sunshine and
excellent food. With the Alps in the north, vineyards in the south, and
Slovenia and Croatia being close, Graz offers ample close-by
opportunities for leisure activities and vacation. With around 300.000
inhabitants, Graz is Austria's second largest city with a thriving
cultural life to which also the more than 50.000 students contribute.
Rental costs are significantly cheaper than in other European cities.

An inclusive environment and balancing family and career are important
aspects to the group and the university. We encourage women to apply.

Applications including
- a short cover letter indicating your interest in algorithms and in
pursuing a PhD,
- a full curriculum vitae,
- your Master's thesis or a draft of it (if already available),
- a transcript of records (together with grades), and
- other relevant documents (e.g., recommendation letters), should be
submitted via the TU Graz job portal
(https://jobs.tugraz.at/en/jobs/aa0f4193-95f0-b4d6-35ff-679b514697e4).

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me
(birgit.vogtenhuber@tugraz.at). Informal inquiries are welcome.
We will accept applications until the position is filled. However, for
full consideration, please submit your application by May 11, 2025.

Previous events were held in Bilbao, Genova, Warsaw, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Guimarães, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Luleå, Bournemouth, Bari, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Porto.

Deep learning is a branch of artificial intelligence covering a spectrum of current frontier research and industrial innovation that provides more efficient algorithms to deal with large-scale data in a huge variety of environments: computer vision, neurosciences, speech recognition, language processing, human-computer interaction, drug discovery, biomedicine and health informatics, medical image analysis, recommender systems, advertising, fraud detection, robotics, games, business and finance, biotechnology, physics experiments, biometrics, communications, climate sciences, geographic information systems, signal processing, genomics, materials design, video technology, social systems, earth and sustainability, etc. etc.

The field is also raising a number of relevant questions about robustness of the algorithms, explainability, transparency, interpretability, as well as important ethical concerns at the frontier of current knowledge that deserve careful multidisciplinary discussion.

Most deep learning subareas will be displayed, and main challenges identified through 18 four-hour and a half courses, 2 keynote lectures, 1 round table and a hackathon competition among participants. Renowned academics and industry pioneers will lecture and share their views with the audience. The organizers are convinced that outstanding speakers will attract the brightest and most motivated students. Face to face interaction and networking will be main ingredients of the event. It will be also possible to fully participate in vivo remotely.

DeepLearn 2025 will place special emphasis on large language models, foundation models and generative artificial intelligence.

[DMANET] journal OJMO now ranked Q1 at Scimago

Dear colleagues

Some of you may have heard of the « Open Journal of Mathematical Optimization », which we created 5 years ago to offer our fellow mathematical optimizers a high-quality Diamond Open Access journal in mathematical optimization, meaning a journal where there is neither publication fee nor subscription fee. We are happy to share with you the good news that the journal has been ranked Q1 at Scimago both in « Control and Optimization » and « « Management Science and Operations Research », see https://www.scimagojr.com/journalsearch.php?q=21101123946&tip=sid&exact=no.

With best regards,

The board of OJMO
