[DMANET] PostDoc in Discrete Optimization at TU Dortmund

With more than 7.000 employees in research, teaching and administration

and progress in knowledge and methodology. And it is not only the more

The Chair of Discrete Optimization at TU Dortmund, Faculty for
Mathematics, offers a

* Postdoctoral Position in Discrete Optimization *

to be filled in April 2013 or later. The initial appointment will be for
one year, with a possible extension to a second year. The position is a
full-time appointment with a salary according to E13 of the TV-L
public-employee tariff or TVÜ-L, if applicable. The position is in
principle suitable for part-time employees. The position offers the
opportunity to further scientific qualification.


Required qualification:

Candidates must hold a qualifying university degree in mathematics or
computer science. They should have finished their PhD with excellent
results. Research experience in at least one of the following areas is
required:

* mathematical programming
* discrete or mixed-integer optimization
* continuous optimization
* global optimization

Good programming skills are desirable.


Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to play an active role in research
in the Discrete Optimization group of TU Dortmund. This includes the
pursuit of independent research projects as well as active participation
in scientific projects and inter­disciplinary cooperations carried out
by the group. Moreover, the candidate is expected to take active part in
organizing workshops and seminars.

The position also includes teaching obligations amounting to 4 hours per
week during lecture periods, which may be fulfilled by, e.g., giving a
lecture course on a self-chosen topic.
