Dear Colleagues,

At the upcoming conference EURO 2021 Athens, July 11-14, 2021, held "hybrid" (https://euro2021athens.com) there will be a

Session on "OR in Forestry".

The session is an element of the stream on "Specific Applications of OR in Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries" within the Area of "Specific Applications of OR".

Contributions to this session are invited and related to all OR aspects, above all methods of optimization and simulations for solving all kind of challenges in forests, forestry, and neighboring fields. Complex decision-making problems around environment protection, climate, renewable energy production and use, biodiversity, competition, synergies and conflicts for wood between different industries and fuel for heating, and between wood production and other forest functions and services require the answers on how to schedule the investment, silvicultural and harvesting activities over long time horizon while maximizing profit and ecological objectives, respecting societal desires, and addressing the uncertainties of natural, technological and socio-economic factors.

The session shall contribute to presenting the theories in all due respect and especially the applications to real forestry world in broader sense of view with the aim to develop an interdisciplinary decision-making process for determining the optimal environmental functions and supplying services on which human well-being depends.
