An LMS Hybrid Research School on Knowledge Exchange in the topic of rigidity, flexibility and applications will take place at Lancaster University in the week of July 18th, 2022. (As this is a hybrid event, online participation will also be possible.)
This 5-day school is aimed at PhD students and postdocs in mathematics and related fields, as well as industry professionals, and will feature 4 mini-courses on a range of mathematical and applied topics (as outlined below). The courses will only require basic knowledge in discrete mathematics and algebra.
Geometric rigidity taught by Louis Theran (St. Andrews)
Statistical mechanics and sphere packings taught by Miranda Holmes-Cerfon (NYU)
Topology of linkages taught by Michael Farber (Queen Mary)
Applications of rigidity to soft matter physics taught by Silke Henkes (Bristol)
