[DMANET] Permanent Lectureships in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham

The School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham invites applications for two lectureship positions in Mathematics. These are permanent positions similar to Assistant Professorships in the US. One of these positions is broadly in Analysis, but the School is keen to strengthen the links between Analysis and Combinatorics. So we are strongly encouraging candidates working at the interface between Combinatorics and Analysis (for example in Additive Combinatorics) to apply. The formal advertisement with information on how to apply can be found at

Here is a short version:

UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM
Lectureships in Mathematics

Applications are invited for two Lectureship posts in the School of Mathematics, in Pure Mathematics and in Applied Mathematics.

In Pure Mathematics the School is looking for someone to join the Analysis research group. The successful candidate would join an energetic and outward-facing analysis group with internationally-recognised strengths in Harmonic Analysis, Geometric Analysis, Geometric Measure Theory, Discrete Dynamical Systems and a variety of aspects of linear and nonlinear Partial Differential Equations. The Analysis Group at Birmingham enjoys a close relationship with a rapidly-developing Combinatorics group, and first-class candidates that would strengthen such emerging interactions are also encouraged to apply.

The Applied Mathematics group is looking to expand its research in mathematical areas that include applied analysis, nonlinear systems, nonlinear PDE, inverse problems, reaction diffusion equations, mathematical biology, dynamical systems, asymptotic methods and nonlinear waves. Candidates who can interact between these research groups in Pure and Applied Mathematics are also encouraged.

Potential candidates are encouraged to consult our web pages at www.birmingham.ac.uk/schools/mathematics.
