Postdoc position in algorithmic bioinformatics

Postdoctoral Researcher position

Department of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The field of the study is algorithmic bioinformatics in the context of the research group Genome-scale algorithmics that is part of Finnish Centre of Excellence in Cancer Genetics Research starting 2012.  The research group conducts research e.g. in space-efficient index structures for genomes, high-throughput sequencing data analysis, and fragment assembly, see http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/gsa/.

An appointee to the position of post-doctoral researcher shall hold a doctoral degree.  Also candidates expecting to obtain the doctoral degree in near future are encouraged to apply. An ideal candidate would have earlier studies and research in algorithmic problems relevant to bioinformatics and high motivation to contribute to the fields of molecular biology and biomedicine through novel computational approaches.

The salary will be based on rules of the salary system applied in Finnish universities, and can currently range between 2 780 and 4 070 euros. The start date and length of the contract (between 1-2 years) are negotiable.
