[DMANET] PhD positions Applied Operations Research at Ghent University (Belgium)

Ph.D. positions in the domain of Applied Operations Research

°Job description°

Two funded Ph.D. positions are available in the domain of applied operations research. These are two full-time positions for four years. The project Feed4Flex focuses on "robust decision support for part feeding of flexible assembly systems". The researchers will conduct academic research on this research line in preparation of a doctoral dissertation. The researchers will engage in various research activities, including mathematical modeling and algorithm development, writing scientific articles, and presenting at scientific conferences. Research will be conducted under the supervision of prof. dr. Veronique Limère (Faculty of Economics and Business Administration) and prof. dr. El-Houssaine Aghezzaf (Faculty of Engineering and Architecture).

°Job profile°

To perform research in the domain above, in both national and international projects, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates with:

-Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Business Engineering - Operations Management, or equivalent (e.g., Computer Science Engineering, Mathematical Informatics, etc.).
-Background in operations research, systems engineering, control and optimization or in a closely related domain
-Strong interest in scientific research and operations research applications in production and logistics systems
-Analytical mind-set
-Good programming skills
-Smooth communication in English (oral and written)
-Speaking Dutch is an advantage (but no necessity)
