with Dr Eoin Long on the EPSRC funded New Investigator Award "A
high-dimensional approach to Ramsey Theory".
The posts are available for a period of 12 months in the first
instance, with a possibility of further extension. The starting date
is 1 May 2026, though there is some flexibility here.
The successful candidates will join a community of researchers in the
Combinatorics group within the School of Mathematics, University of
Birmingham. The group consists of 7 permanent staff as well as many
postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers and has a proven
track-record in mentoring and supporting the development of
early-career researchers. The profile and research interests of the
group may be found at:

Applicants should have a PhD in Mathematics awarded or submitted at
the time of taking up the position, a strong record of research and
publications and strong facility with techniques from both Extremal
and Probabilistic Combinatorics.
The School of Mathematics aims to provide a supportive and friendly
environment for staff and research fellows to develop as researchers
and lecturers. The School is a supportive and people-focused friendly
environment, committed to equality, diversity and inclusivity. We
encourage applications from the widest community and provide equal
opportunities in our recruitment processes.
The School of Mathematics holds an Athena SWAN Silver award, supports
the London Mathematical Society Good Practice Scheme and is a member
of the Piscopia.
The University of Birmingham holds the Advance HE's Race Equality
Charter Silver award, a framework through which we are working to
self-reflect, identify and remove barriers standing in the way of
Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff and students. The University of
Birmingham is an equal opportunity employer and a Disability Confident
employer.
