**Lecturer / Postdoc in Artificial Intelligence (100% or part-time)**
(Duration: 2 years, with the possibility of extension)
**About us:**
The Computation and Economics Research Group, led by Prof. Sven Seuken,
currently consists of one professor, one Postdoc, and six PhD students.
All group members have a strong background in mathematics/computer
science and work on AI, machine learning, and market design research
questions. Market design is a research field that combines techniques
from computer science, game theory, operations research, and other
fields to analyze and design real-world marketplaces. In our research
group, we study foundational market design questions from an
algorithmic/computational and game-theoretic perspective. Current group
members work on a variety of projects, including active learning in
combinatorial assignment problems, techniques for capturing model
uncertainty in neural networks, algorithms for finding equilibria in
auctions, and machine learning-powered preference elicitation in
combinatorial auctions, course allocation, drone traffic management, and
adoption marketplaces. We publish our research exclusively in top
international conferences (e.g., AAAI, IJCAI, EC) and journals (e.g.,
JAIR, JET, Management Science). In some projects, we also collaborate
with industrial partners such as Google Research and Microsoft Research.
**We offer:**

Paper Submission
======================================
Papers should be submitted electronically through Easychair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sand2022).
A submission must be original research and reporting on novel results that have not appeared previously in/(or are concurrently submitted to) a journal or a conference with published proceedings. Submissions must be in English in pdf format and they must be prepared using the LaTeX style template for LIPIcs
(instructions at https://submission.dagstuhl.de/documentation/authors)
Submissions must be anonymous, without any author names, affiliations, or email addresses. A submission must not exceed 15 pages, excluding the references. Additional details can be provided in a clearly marked appendix. Note that reviewers are not required to read the appendices. Submissions deviating from the above guidelines will be rejected without consideration of their merits.
The program committee may decide that some of the papers not selected for publication are suitable for publication in the brief announcement format. Any authors who do not wish their paper to be considered for the brief announcement format in case of rejection, are asked to clearly indicate this on the first page of their submission.
======================================
Instructions for Double-Blind Review
======================================
The reviewing process is double-blind, the authors' names must not be included in the paper, and the writing of the manuscript should be done in such a way to not de-anonymize authors (e.g., instead of, our result [1], they should use, the result of [1]). We assume that reviewers do not actively try to recognize the authors. Therefore, authors are allowed to publish their results on pre-print services before or at any point of the submission/reviewing process. Non-anonymous submissions will be rejected.
======================================
Publication
======================================
The conference proceedings will be published by LIPIcs. The final version of the paper must be formatted following the LIPIcs guidelines (https://submission.dagstuhl.de/documentation/authors). Papers accepted in full will have 15 pages in the final proceedings (excluding references). Any papers accepted in the brief announcement format will have 3 pages in the final proceedings (including everything).
Extended and revised versions of selected papers will be considered for a special issue of the Journal of Computer and System Sciences.
For every accepted regular paper and brief announcement, at least one of the authors must fully register and present the paper during the conference and according to the conference program. Any paper accepted but not presented will be withdrawn from the final proceedings.
======================================
Awards
======================================
All papers are eligible for the best paper award. Papers co-authored by full-time students may also be eligible for the best student paper award. For a paper to be considered for the best student paper award, the nominated authors should be full time students at the time of submission and should have a significant contribution to the paper. In case the authors think that their paper is eligible for the best student paper award, they should clearly indicate this on the first page of their submission and briefly justify. The program committee may decline to make these awards or may decide to split them.

[DMANET] WINE 2021 +++ Registration Update
WINE 2021: The 17th Conference on Web and Internet Economics
December 14-17, 2021
Hasso Plattner Institute, Potsdam, Germany
https://hpi.de/wine2021/
============================================================
WINE 2021 will be a hybrid conference with on-site and virtual
participants!
The conference features 4 invited talks, 41 paper presentations, a
poster session, a session on spotlights beyond WINE, and tutorial
workshops.
The accepted papers of WINE 2021 can be found at:
https://hpi.de/wine2021/accepted-papers/
============
Registration
============
++++++++++++
Update: We had problems with our payment system, but these are now
resolved and registration is possible.
If you had problems with the registration before, please register again
using our new payment system.
The registration for on-site attendance is open until 28 November 2021!
++++++++++++
The registration for WINE 2021 is open:
https://hpi.de/wine2021/registration/
We encourage on-site participation but virtual participation is also
allowed.
The current travel regulations allow for a quarantine-free travel to
Germany from almost every country given that the traveler is vaccinated
against COVID-19 or recently recovered. Hotels in Potsdam and Berlin
require a vaccination or recovery certificate (in some places also
officially certified quick tests suffice) and the same
(vaccination/recovery certificate or official quick test on a day-to-day
basis) will be needed for on-site admission to WINE 2021. We will do our
best to create a safe situation for all on-site participants by adhering
to the official social distancing and mask wearing rules. (See the
registration website for more details.)
Note that the social distancing rules also imply that we can only admit
a limited number of on-site participants. Hence, we encourage on-site
participants to register as early as possible! The registration for
on-site participants will close on November 28 2021.
Given all this, we hope that the hybrid WINE 2021 will be a low-risk
opportunity for finally bringing the community physically together after
a long time of only virtual meetings.
Potsdam and Berlin are touristic hot-spots in Germany and always worth a
visit, especially in the weeks before Christmas!

[DMANET] Announcement: ESA Track S
Next year, the European Symposium on Algorithms ESA'22 will have a Track S
(for Simplicity) inviting contributions that simplify algorithmic results.
We would like to expand the community around simplification of algorithmic
results, encourage and reward research towards simplification and clarity.
We find that simpler algorithms are easier to implement, bridging the gap
between theory and practice, and we find that new simple or elegant proofs
are easier to understand and to teach, and may contain interesting new
insights whose relevance only the future will reveal.
Scope: We invite submissions that prove or explain known results in a
much clearer, simpler or more elegant way than done before. Submissions
that improve on the state of the art from a theoretical or practical
viewpoint should instead be submitted to tracks A or B.
Paper assessment: Contingent on being in scope for ESA, submitted
papers will primarily be judged on the simplicity and elegance of their
proofs or algorithms, and the clarity of their presentation.
Track S will run as an experiment for the 2022 ESA in Potsdam, Germany.
It will have its own PC and PC chair, and the submission/acceptance
deadlines follow the schedule for tracks A and B.

[DMANET] online resources --- OR for DCs --- responsibility, creativity, optimization (by IFORS)
- the materials may become helpful
The aim of the IFORS Developing Countries Online Resources page is to offer the OR worker all publicly-available materials on the topic of OR for Development. It also aims to provide a venue for people who are working in the area to share their completed or in-process work, learn from others, and stimulate comments and discussions on the work. Regarding IFORS Developing Countries OR resources website, its regular updates - and your possible submission of "free" (not copyright protected) material, you might occasionally visit
[ http://ifors.org/developing_countries/index.php?title=Main_Page | http://ifors.org/developing_countries/index.php?title=Main_Page ]
With this open resources page we aim to make research and application results better accessible to the many friends in the Developing Countries. We would be glad about interest.
Contributions from art and science, communication and education sectors are warmly welcome by our community which has very little access to emerging documents on arts and sciences, research, design and development.
"Operational Research" (OR) is the discipline of applying advanced analytical methods to help make better decisions. By using techniques such as problem structuring methods and mathematical modelling to analyze nontrivial situations, Operational Research gives executives the power to make more effective decisions and build more productive systems.
The International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS; is an almost 60-year old organization which is currently composed of 51 national societies. Regional Groups of IFORS are: ALIO (The Latin American Ibero Association on Operations Research), APORS (The Association of Asian-Pacific Operational Research Societies), EURO (The Association of European Operational Research Societies), NORAM (The Association of North American Operations Research Societies). IFORS conferences are taking place every three years. On IFORS 2021, Seoul, South Korea, August 22-27, 2021, please refer to
