[DMANET] 2 Postdoc postions Systems Biology / Mathematical Modeling at Heidelberg University

The ViroQuant research group Modeling at Heidelberg University has two
open positions for Postdocs in theoretical systems biology and
mathematical modeling. The first position is on mathematical modeling of
virus-host interactions within the EU FP7-funded project PATHOSYS - New
Algorithms for Host Pathogen Systems Biology and is available starting
September 1, 2010. The second position is within a collaborative project
on EGF-R mediated signal transduction in Breast Cancer and will be
available from June 1, 2011 on. An earlier or later starting date can be
negotiated for both positions.

Applicants for both positions should have a strong research record in
theoretical Systems Biology, Bioinformatics or related fields, ideally
with experience in mathematical modeling of biological processes using
differential equations, or machine learning approaches in systems
biology.

The successful candidates will work in international collaboration
projects on Systems Biology of Hepatitis C virus or Systems Biology of
EGF signaling in breast cancer, respectively. The positions offer the
applicant the opportunity to gain research experience at an
international level, including the possibility for research stays at
project partner institutions. We expect the applicants for both
positions to work independently, and to be willing to collaborate
closely with both theory and experimental collaboration partners within
the project consortia.

We are an international, young team, and offer an interdisciplinary
working environment in an exciting and booming research area, and
first-hand experience in collaborative research at the European level.
We are located in the BioQuant center, a leading center of Systems
Biology research in Europe, located centrally on the Neuenheimer Feld
Campus of Heidelberg University, one of the German Universities of
Excellence.

Both positions are paid according to the German TV-L salary scale
(E-13), and are available initially for 2 years, with possible
extension. The positions are pending a final funding decision..

Candidates interested in applying, please contact Lars Kaderali
(lars.kaderali{at}bioquant.uni-heidelberg.de) for additional
information. Full applications should include a CV, Publication List,
Transcripts of Relevant Certificates (showing grades), Names and contact
of two qualified references and a Statement of Research Interests, and
should preferentially be sent by email as one large pdf file.
Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
