AIM:
The yearly Cargese workshop aims to bring together researchers in
combinatorial optimization around a chosen topic of current interest.
It is intended to be a forum for the exchange of recent developments
and powerful tools, with an emphasis on theory. Other goals include:
the promotion of interactions between participants and discussion of
open problems. There are morning and afternoon sessions. Morning
sessions are dedicated to longer survey-type talks or open problems.
The afternoon sessions are dedicated to discussions as well as shorter
talks on related topics.
VENUE:
The 4th Cargese Workshop on Combinatorial Optimization will take place
at IESC Cargese, Corsica (France).
SCOPE:
This fourth edition will focus on aspects of submodularity, e.g.:
- applications to machine learning
- submodularity in the context of approximation algorithms
- approximating / learning submodular functions
- combinatorial properties
- submodular flows
DISTINGUISHED SPEAKERS:
Francis Bach (ENS Paris, France)
Satoru Iwata (Tokyo University, Japan)
Tom McCormick (British Columbia, Canada)
Seffi Naor (Technion, Israel)
PARTICIPATION:
The workshop will have about 70 participants, including PhD students
and postdocs. The participation of the previous Cargese workshops was
restricted to invited researchers. For this fourth edition, we
encourage researchers interested in the workshop and who did not
receive a direct invitation, to submit a contributed talk on this
year's topic. Authors are kindly invited to submit an abstract (max. 2
pages) with a description of the work they would like to present : cwco2013@gmail.com
.
(NEW) Deadline for submission : June 30st (11:59 pm CET).
(NEW) Notification of acceptance : July 7th.
ORGANIZING COMMITTEE:
Samuel Fiorini (ULB, Brussels, Belgium)
Gianpaolo Oriolo (Università di Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy)
Gautier Stauffer (Grenoble INP, France)
Paolo Ventura (IASI, Rome, Italy)
STEERING COMMITTEE:
Friedrich Eisenbrand (EPFL, Switzerland)
Michel Goemans (MIT, USA)
