The department/programme

The Aviation Academy was created to serve the European aviation industry. Our mission is to provide the current and next generation of professionals with the skills they need to meet the international aviation challenges of the next 10 to 15 years. Our three main activities are Education, Practical Research and Peer Networking. The Aviation Academy offers Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Aviation in two variants: Aviation Engineering and Aviation Operations. The Aviation Academy performs practical scientific research around real-world problems in the aviation sector, with the goal of improving and innovating professional practice.

Within the Bachelor of Engineering educational programme we are currently putting together an Aviation Development specialisation, with a focus on the longer-term/long-term developments in the aviation sector, such as airport master planning, airspace developments, influence of new business models and the use of aircraft by airlines and/or adaptations to regulations and social frameworks. Students are trained to become aviation generalists and would eventually seek employment with companies in the aviation sector, but also the consultancy sector or the government.

Within the Aviation Academy the Aviation research programme, in conjunction with the aviation sector, conducts applied research into the optimal development and utilisation of the capacity in the aviation sector.
