Middlesex University London
The Department of Computer Science at Middlesex University London is offering a postdoctoral position
in the areas of parameterized complexity and computational geometry.
The position is within the Foundations of Computing group, see http://www.cs.mdx.ac.uk/foundations/ ,
and is funded by an EPSRC project on 'Fixed-parameter tractability and lower bounds for geometric optimization problems'.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in computer science or mathematics. Preferably, he/she should have expertise in one of the fields of parameterized complexity or computational geometry and a genuine interest in the other. Strong candidates in other areas of algorithms research (e.g., approximation algorithms) are also welcome to apply.
The position is initially for 1 year and may be extended by mutual agreement, subject to the availability of funds.
This is a grade 7 position with a gross salary in the range of £35.000 to £41.000 per annum depending on qualifications and previous experience. The position comes also with a generous travel support.
Applications should be initially sent to Panos Giannopoulos (p.giannopoulos@mdx.ac.uk) and should include
(i) a letter of intent, (ii) a CV with a list of publications, (iii) a research statement, and (iv) contacts of at least two references.
Review of applications will start immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The position can start
as early as 1st of September.
General inquires about the position, the project and the application process can be directed to the address above.
