*****English version *****
tenure position at the full Professor level in Complex System, beginning September 1, 2018. . This hire is part of our 2018-2022 scientific plan aiming at developing the cross-disciplinary Complex Systems research axis at the LIA. In addition to an accomplished research record in this topic, preference will be given to candidates with experience and interest in some of the other research domains of the LIA: Operations Research, Computer Networks, and Natural Language Processing (in order of decreasing importance for this position).
The LIA is a part of the CERI, itself included in the UFR STS (Science Faculty) of the University of Avignon. It is a founding member of the Agorantic research federation, of the BLRI LABEX (Brain and Language Research Institute), of the Convergences Institute on Language, Communication and the Brain, and of the Carnot Programme on Cognition. The LIA is constituted of 80 persons, including 31 full time professors, researchers, and engineers. Its non-consolidated budget is 700k€/year.
It hosts around 40 PhD students, most of which are funded through collaborative projects with other laboratories and the industry. Thus, having excellent funding record and be experienced in networking with industrial partners will be considered a big plus. Finally, the LIA aims at maintaining its international reach: we will give great attention to the candidate's ability of developing this aspect.
The CERI gathers all research and teaching activities related to computer science at the University of Avignon. It takes in approximately 600 students, and grants both Licence (BSc) and Master (MSc) diplomas, in two specialties: Software Engineering (ILSEN) and Network & Security (SICOM). Moreover, most of the curriculum can be pursued as work/study apprenticeship. A new selective Master of CS Engineering programme (CMI) will start in September 2018, which will contain a strong research & innovation component. The research side will be supported by the LIA.
The selected candidate will be required to actively take part in these teaching activities, especially at the Master level. The standard yearly load is 192 hours, and teaching is performed in French. We also expect the candidate to help setting up and starting the new CMI programme.
Best regards
