Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering
Faculty Positions
The Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the
University of Michigan invites applications and nominations for faculty
positions beginning September 2020.
We seek outstanding candidates for faculty positions at all ranks. Our
department is highly multi-disciplinary, with a balance of
methodological research and applied research interests. From a
methodological perspective, we will be considering candidates in all
areas related to Industrial and Operations Engineering, including
Operations Research, Ergonomics, Data Science, and related disciplines.
The many application areas in the department include business, health
and human safety, energy and sustainability, public policy,
manufacturing, and robotics. Candidates must have, or be near completion
of a Ph.D., and must demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality
research and evidence of teaching potential.

Candidates should provide (i) a current C.V., (ii) a list of at least
three references, and one-page summary statements describing: (iii)
career teaching plans; (iv) research plans; and (v) activities,
contributions, or plans related to supporting diversity, equity, and
inclusion. For candidates with prior teaching experience, please provide
(vi) a summary of course (teaching) evaluations. Candidates should also
have their references send three letters of recommendation to us
directly at IOEFacultySearch@umich.edu.

during the academic year. All positions will remain open and
applications may be considered until appointments are made.
