[DMANET] Theory of Machine Learning PhD Position - Deadline May 1st

Starting August 1, 2020 (if COVID-19 permits it), a PhD position in theory of machine learning is available at Department of Computer Science, Aarhus University, under the supervision of Associate Professor Kasper Green Larsen (http://www.cs.au.dk/~larsen).

The position is part of a project funded by a grant from Independent Research Fund Denmark. The project is within the area of machine learning, with a strong theoretical focus on the two topics: learning and dimensionality reduction. In one direction, we will develop faster algorithms and algorithms with better theoretical generalization guarantees. On the other hand, we will also investigate lower bounds for running time and generalization performance, with the goal of establishing optimality of known solutions as well as inspire new upper bounds. For more details, see the call at https://phd.scitech.au.dk/for-applicants/apply-here/may-2020/theory-of-machine-learning-dimensionality-reduction-and-learning-theory/

The position is administered through the Graduate School of Science and Technology at Aarhus University (phd.scitech.au.dk) and include full tuition waiver and a very competitive scholarship. Applications are welcomed from students with either a BS or an MS degree in computer science or mathematics. Students with experience within algorithms, theory and/or mathematics are preferred. The application deadline for the positions is May 1, 2020. Applicants should apply using the Aarhus Graduate School of Science and Technology application system (reachable from phd.scitech.au.dk)

Applicants seeking further information in regards to scientific questions are invited to contact Associate Professor Kasper Green Larsen (larsen@cs.au.dk<mailto:larsen@cs.au.dk>). For other questions, please contact research group coordinator Julie Rasmussen (jras@cs.au.dk<mailto:jras@cs.au.dk>)
