*Open 2-years Post-Doc position at ESSEC Business School, Paris*
ESSEC Business School (Cergy campus) is looking for a Post-Doc candidate
who will be working on a development of new data-driven mathematical
models and optimization algorithms for challenging applications in
sustainable city logistics.*
*
*Project Description: *We will study innovative strategies for
performing sustainable last-mile delivery operations. We propose to
exploit existing public transportation services, in particular, during
off-the-peak hours, when the vehicles are typically under-utilized.
Public transport will cover the first lag of transportation and it will
be then combined with green modalities performing the last lag
(including droids and drones). This novel integration of public
transportation into the city logistics will help to reduce the number of
combustion engine vehicles performing last-mile deliveries, which will
in turn imply reduced congestion and improving living conditions within
urban areas.
*Required Skills: *The Post-Doc is expected to work independently and to
have a doctoral degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer
Science or a related discipline.
A strong scientific background in Computational Optimization, Operations
Research (decomposition methods, exact and heuristic methods,
combinatorial optimization, mixed integer programming, branch-and-cut,
branch-and-price) is expected. A good understanding of machine learning
tools (e.g, neural networks, SVMs, random forests, classification and
clustering methods) is appreciated.
*Working conditions at ESSEC:* With its 3 campuses (Paris, Singapore and
Rabat), ESSEC Business School is a top European Business School with
international and very diverse faculty and student communities. The
ESSEC Master in Management is ranked #4 worldwide by the Financial Times
in 2019. The ESSEC Master in Finance is ranked #5 worldwide in the FT
ranking. The ESSEC Master in Data Science & Business Analytics (a joint
program with Ecole Centrale Paris) is ranked #3 worldwide in the latest
QS 2020 ranking.
The candidate will work under the supervision of OR professors at ESSEC:
Laurent Alfandari, Claudia Archetti, Ivana Ljubic.
Annual gross salary: 34K Euros.
Special working conditions can be negotiated, due to the current
covid-19 crisis.
*Application process: *Candidates should send their applications
(including a cover letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, a list of
publications, and two recommendation letters) to Professor Ivana LJUBIC:
ivana.ljubic@essec.edu <mailto:ivana.ljubic@essec.edu>. *
*
*Deadline for applications: September 1, 2020.*
*Earliest starting date: *October 1, 2020
