[DMANET] PhD studentship in Combinatorial Optimization and Game Theory at Queen Mary University of London

A fully funded PhD studentship for 3.5 years in the areas of combinatorial optimization and game theory is available at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Queen Mary University of London. The studentship is associated with an EPSRC-funded project on Optimal Impartial Mechanisms led by Dr Felix Fischer. The project will be carried out in cooperation with the research group of Professor Max Klimm at HU Berlin, and additional funding is available to support this cooperation and other national and international research visits.

The ideal candidate will have or be about to obtain an excellent undergraduate or postgraduate degree in mathematics, computer science, operations research, or a related field. Knowledge in combinatorial optimization, algorithms, or game theory will be an advantage. The studentship will be available from September 2020, but a later starting date is possible. Due to the nature of the funding, the studentship is available only to UK/EU students.

Queen Mary University of London is a highly ranked public research university located in East London. The School of Mathematical Sciences provides a vibrant research community including around 70 full-time members of staff and 70 PhD students. The successful applicant will join the Combinatorics research group, which hosts a weekly research seminar in combinatorics and combinatorial optimization and has excellent links with research communities in London, the UK, and the wider world.
