We are looking for excellent candidates for Ph.D. positions in the
Department of Computer and Information Sciences in the University of
Delaware effective Spring 2021 and Fall 2021. The students will work under
the supervision of Dr. Ilya Safro. There are several open positions in
algorithms for quantum computing, graphs, machine learning, combinatorial
scientific computing, and large-scale optimization. Some projects will
include collaboration with and internships at national labs.
The ideal candidate should have the BSc or MSc degree in computer science,
mathematics or physics and a basic background in
+ theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics, algorithms
+ machine learning
+ numerical methods
+ Python, C/C++
Basic knowledge in quantum computing, and optimization is a big plus. Some
(academic or industrial) experience in one of the following areas will be
considered as an advantage: HPC and parallel programming/MPI/OpenMP/Hadoop,
graph/network libraries, scientific computing libraries, deep learning and
such libraries as Keras and Tensorflow.
