§Abstract: The MoDuMoDe project is an interdisciplinary project that
concerns the development of cycling mobility in urban areas. It proposes
to define the notion of "detour" in a cycling itinerary, to evaluate its
"cost" from the perspective of both 'internal' variables related to the
topology of the route and 'external' variables related to the
representation and perception that the individual has of the route.
Being able to provide cyclists with more 'attractive' itineraries within
the limits of 'acceptable' detours can increase the rate of bicycle use
in urban areas. The proposed approach studies and models the notion of
"detour" by combining combinatorial and optimization methods, borrowing
from complex network analysis, real Origin/Destination data and field
surveys. The real data and surveys concern the cities of Toulouse and
Tunis, which have already been explored by the team. The project is
based on an implementation of computer science. The MoDuMoDe project is
part of a dual dynamic at the Toulouse site around sustainable mobility,
led by both the Occitanie region (key challenge 'Intelligent and
Sustainable Mobility in Occitanie') and the University of Toulouse
(TIRIS project).
