[DMANET] Ph.D./Postdoc positions in Discrete Optimization at BTU in Cottbus

The Discrete Mathematics group at BTU in Cottbus invites applications
for two

Ph.D./Postdoctoral Researchers

The two researchers will be part of the new "Energy Innovation Center"
in Cottbus. Here more than 70 scientists from the BTU
Cottbus-Senftenberg are researching innovative solutions and
technologies for a climate-neutral energy supply, together with an
interdisciplinary partner network.

You will develop models and algorithms from the field of network and
combinatorial optimization in the context of energy systems. Various
methods, including game-theoretic approaches as well as time-dependent
flow models and algorithms will be investigated. Within the research
project, you will work closely together with our partners from science
and industry.

What we offer:

- Modern infrastructure with high potential for personal development and
creativity as well as an international team
- Participation in international conferences with corresponding publications
- Extensive opportunities for flexible working hours to enable an
adequate work-life balance via more direct responsibility in the
organization and execution of your work.

What we expect from you:

- An excellent academic degree in mathematics, computer science or a
related discipline.
- Fundamental knowledge of at least one area of discrete mathematics or
discrete/integer optimization.
- Interest in combinatorial optimization and the development of
efficient algorithms for complex network problems.
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English; good knowledge of
German is an advantage.
