Context:
Smart cities will evolve globally as the next big development that will
change and improve the lives of billions. Smart cities will involve
multiple disciplines, such as electrical engineering, computer science,
civil engineering, environmental science, urban science, sustainable
science, transportation engineering, sociology and living habitat. Smart
cities have evolved to solve some of the world's most pressing life issues,
such as: traffic congestion, air pollution, health hazards, natural
disasters, crimes, public safety, decarbonization, sustainability, etc. Why
Spain? According to FiberRoad Market Research, between 2023 and 2028, the
Smart Cities market in Spain is projected to maintain an impressive
compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 11.77%. This steady and
sustained growth indicates that Spain is not just embracing smart
technologies but is also actively working towards their integration into
the fabric of its urban environments. Looking further ahead, it is
anticipated that by 2028, the Spanish Smart Cities market will have
expanded significantly, reaching an estimated market volume of
approximately US$1.64 billion. This projection reflects a commitment to the
long-term development of smart city infrastructure and solutions.
Why the UK?
According to Statista, revenue in the UK Smart Cities market is projected
to reach US$1.52bn in 2024. It is anticipated that the revenue will display
an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2029) of 11.59%, leading to a market
volume of US$2.63bn by 2029. Five of the promising projects include: (a)
Manchester's Triangulum project, (b) Hull's Smart City OS, (c) Smarter
London Together, (d) Bristol Is Open and (e) Future City Glasgow. Smart
London is the technological capital of EUROPE. The London city
administration has decided to transform City of London into a
carbon-neutral city by 2050.
Speakers
Leaders and researchers from both industries and universities will present
