[DMANET] Position in Statistical Methods / Machine Learning at the Czech Technical University in Prague

On behalf of the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences
and Physical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague, I am
forwarding information about the following job opening.


Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FNSPE) of the Czech
Technical University in Prague invites applications for a senior academic
position in the area of machine learning, deep learning, data science,
mathematics, or statistics, with a focus on data analysis. We are seeking
exceptional candidates with a strong research background, proven track record,
and the ability to lead a research group, publish in high-impact venues, and
secure competitive research funding.


Position Overview

FNSPE is one of the leading scientific and educational institutions in the
Czech Republic. It covers a wide range of fields in mathematics, physics,
computer science, chemistry, material sciences, or nuclear engineering. The
successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor
(tenure-track), Associate Professor, or Full Professor, depending on his/her
qualifications and experience. The position will begin in September 2025 or
later. For tenure-track candidates, the initial contract is for two years, with
the possibility of extension following a positive evaluation. After a
successful habilitation, a permanent position will be offered.


Key Responsibilities

Leading cutting-edge research in machine learning, deep learning, data science,
and related fields, with the goal of publishing in international journals and
conferences. Securing research grants and funding for the support and
development of research activities. Formulating and implementing strategic
research visions to advance the department's and faculty's research goals.
Establishing and leading a research group, including mentoring postdoctoral
researchers and students. Developing and teaching courses at the bachelor's,
master's, and doctoral levels, with a focus on modern data analysis, machine
learning, and related areas. Collaborating with international institutions or
industry partners on innovative research projects.


Essential Qualifications

Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. A
strong scientific profile, demonstrated by high-quality publications in
peer-reviewed international journals or by proven ability to secure competitive
research funding in an international environment. Experience with developing
and applying modern statistical methods, including machine learning, big data
analysis or business analytics. Ability to integrate scientific activities,
teaching and supervision of student theses, including training a supervision of
doctoral students. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Czech is not
mandatory at the time of application, but the successful candidate is expected
to acquire competence in Czech for administrative and teaching purposes within
three years.
