We invite applications for a 3-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Discrete Mathematics at Lancaster University.
The position is part of the 36-month project "Extending Rigidity and Graphic Statics: Moments and Shears", led by Dr. Bernd Schulze. The project develops new geometric and combinatorial theories of rigidity and graphic statics that incorporate moments and shear forces, extending classical bar-and-joint models. Research topics include rigidity theory, graphic statics, discrete geometry, symmetry-refined and periodic rigidity, and homological methods from algebraic topology.
The postdoc will conduct independent and collaborative research, working closely with collaborators at the University of Cambridge, SOM, and other national and international partners.
Location: Lancaster, UK
Salary: £33,002–£37,694 (full-time, fixed-term)
Application deadline: Sunday 22 February 2026
