[DMANET] PhD Position at the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne (Aix-en-Provence, France) - Optimization of logistics flows in landlocked areas

PhD position: Optimization of logistics flows in landlocked areas

A PhD position is available at the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne/UMR
CNRS LIMOS 6158 at Gardanne (near Aix-en-Provence in the South of
France). This thesis (CIFRE) is in collaboration with the company DMS
Logistics and will be founded by DMS Logistics and the ANRT.

*Subject :* The research pursued by the PhD student will concern the
development of new models and original solution methods for optimizing
logistics flows in landlocked areas. The thesis is driven by important
applications in maritime and port logistics encountered by DMS Logistics
clients.

Keywords: operations research, combinatorial optimization, algorithmic,
supply chain modeling and optimization, containers supply chain,
forecasting, uncertainty

*Candidate profile:* Applicants must have a master's degree (or
equivalent) in computer science , applied mathematics or related
disciplines. Candidates must demonstrate good programming skills and a
thorough knowledge of combinatorial optimization. Knowledge of data
science is encouraged.

Knowledge of port logistics, container transport and, above all, a very
strong interest in the related experimental methods and data processing
are of importance for the successful completion of this subject.

The candidate must be self-reliant and show a strong sense of
initiative. A good knowledge of French and English is essential.

*Location:* The PhD student will be located part-time in Marseille in
DMS Logistics and part-time in Gardanne (south of France, near
Aix-en-Provence) in the research group Manufacturing Sciences and
Logistics
(https://www.mines-stetienne.fr/en/research/scientific-departments/manufacturing-sciences-logistics-department-sfl/)
of the Georges Charpak Provence Campus of Mines de Saint-Etienne.

*Duration and assumption of duty:* The position is for three years
starting as soon as possible in 2020 (The position will remain open
until fulfilled).

*Application procedure:* Please send your application electronically
