The Parallel computing and Optimisation Group (PCOG) is led by Prof. Pascal Bouvry and Dr. Grégoire Danoy as deputy head. PCOG conducts research on parallel computing and optimization techniques, in particular how different species may co-evolve taking local decisions while ensuring global objectives, to tackle large and difficult problems. The main application domains are security, trust and reliability; reliable scheduling and routing on new generations of networks; sustainable development and systems biomedicine; Unmanned autonomous vehicles (UAV), Smart Cities. Your Role

This is a fully funded position for 3 years (extendable to an additional 4th year) within the joint Research/Teaching programme between the Luxembourg Institute of Standardisation, Accreditation, Safety and Quality of Products and Services (ILNAS) and the University of Luxembourg, that aims at creating an innovative environment for smart-­ICT and the related standardization efforts. Three smart-­ICT targets have been identified as Trustworthy ICT, Aerospace, and Construction.

The successful candidate will join a strong and motivated research team led by Prof. Pascal Bouvry in order to carry out research to pursue a PhD on the Aerospace topic.

The position holders will be required to perform the following tasks:

* Carrying out research in Aerospace;
* Disseminating results in top scientific venues;
* Assisting in organization of relevant workshops;
* Participation in the related standardization committees.

Your Profile

Qualification: The candidates should possess a MSc degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, or applied mathematics.

Experience: The ideal candidates should have some knowledge and experience in a number of the following topics:

* Optimisation;
* Algorithmics;
* Parallel/Distributed computing;
* AI/Machine learning;

Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Knowledge of French, German or Luxembourgish is desirable.
