----------------------------------

The university of Trieste has opened two new assistant professor (RTDa) positions in computer science (INF/01) as part of the iNEST project (Interconnected Nord-Est Innovation Ecosystem). The topics of interest for the two positions are:
- Research in the field of artificial intelligence, formal methods and software engineering for the construction, simulation, maintenance and modular and continuous integration of digital twins and big models. The research will be conducted as part of the Spoke 8 "Maritime, marine and inland water technologies: towards the digital twin of the Upper Adriatic" of the iNEST project.
- Research on the use of machine learning techniques, artificial intelligence and probabilistic formal methods for the modeling, simulation, analysis and continuous integration of digital twins and big models. The research will be conducted as part of the Spoke 9 "Models, methods, computing technologies for digital twin" of the iNEST project.

University of Trieste just started a broad set of research and teaching activities in these areas, and is looking for motivated faculty to join and develop the field. Teaching-wise, the university offers a bachelor in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (in Italian), master programs in the fields of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Computing (in English, current master programs are undergoing renovation from 23-24), and a PhD program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Master and Phd programs are in collaboration with other research and academic institutions of the thriving scientific area of Trieste and of the FVG region. Trieste has been European capital of Science in 2020, and it has the highest density of researchers per thousand inhabitants in the whole Europe. It is also an enjoyable city by the sea, with cheap housing prices, offering a lot of cultural and sport activities (from sailing to climbing and speleology). Trieste also hosts one of the major harbours of Italy, the HQ of some big companies (Generali, Fincantieri), several innovative start ups, and the first scientific park of Italy (Area Science Park).
New faculty members are expected to teach in the above mentioned programs and possibly collaborate with the existing faculty in the university of Trieste and in the Trieste / regional area.

The position lasts 3 years. Net salary is ~1900 euros/month. Candidates working abroad for more than 3 years are exempted from taxes for a minimum of 6 years, with net salary rising to ~2600 euros/month.
