[DMANET] Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science, Vienna

The University of Vienna (20 faculties and centers, 184 fields of study,
approx. 10.400 members of staff, about 90.000 students) seeks to fill
the position as soon as possible of a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of
Computer Science

The Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Vienna is a dynamic
and growing faculty. It currently comprises 28 professors, 57 post- and
pre-docs, 80 project staff, as well as over 700 admitted Master and over
1500 admitted Bachelor students. The Faculty of Computer Science aims to
build on its disciplinary strengths and - based on this - to further
develop interdisciplinary cooperation with a variety of disciplines at
the University of Vienna. The Faculty of Computer Science offers a
stimulating, creative working environment that is challenging in terms
of content and design in the field of university teaching..

The position is initially limited to 4 years, and subsequently may turn
into an unlimited position.


Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week, which include a teaching assignment
of 14 hours scientific classes on average per semester
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48
VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the
assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated person with sound theoretical knowledge,
practical experience and relevant teaching practice in the areas of
Parallel Processing, Parallel Architectures, Distributed Systems and
Distributed Systems Engineering, briefly summarised under the focus
"Parallel and Distributed Computing".

As a Senior Lecturer, you will predominantly teach basic areas of
Computer Science in the Bachelor's degree program. You will design
courses according to modern didactic principles, such as methods of
Experiential Learning, project-based teaching, etc.. You pay attention
to a coherent and situationally appropriate use of pedagogical
principles as well as digital media and tools to optimize sustainable
learning processes, study feasibility, and the inclusion of learners,
taking into account their diversity.

Ongoing connection to the current state of science and further didactic
training are expected as well as taking on research tasks during periods
without classes. Research-led teaching requires that you take up new
technologies and incorporate them into the course design. In addition,
the University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to fulfill
administrative tasks, in particular in the administration of teaching.
In case of a positive evaluation at the end of the initial term of
employment, the employment contract may be extended for an indefinite
period of time.

Prerequisites for a successful application / admission requirements:
- Doctoral degree / PhD in Computer Science or Business Informatics
- Extensive knowledge and experience in teaching and research in the
field of Parallel and Distributed Computing
- Several years of relevant teaching experience at a post-secondary
educational institution with good evaluation results
- Excellent language skills in German and English (spoken and written),
or willingness to quickly acquire excellent German skills if you have
excellent English skills.
