[DMANET] Juniorprofessorship (W1) for Algorithmic Discrete Mathematics and Algorithmic Game Theory

The Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences at RWTH Aachen University invites applications for a Junior Professorship (W1) in


Algorithmic Discrete Mathematics and Algorithmic Game Theory


to be filled as soon as possible. The appointment will be for three years (with the possibility for further three years after positive evaluation).


The deadline for applications is September 10, 2023.


Algorithmic Discrete Mathematics and Algorithmic Game Theory play a key role as a connecting link between Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, and various applications in economy and industry. The algorithmic and optimization group at RWTH Aachen spans a wide range of areas, including mathematical programming, graph theory and algorithms, discrete optimization, optimization under uncertainty, submodular function optimization, and more. As a new faculty member, you strengthen the research and teaching in one or more of these existing areas and/or you may expand the research and teaching portfolio.


We are seeking a motivated, internationally highly recognised person with a doctoral degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or a comparable domain. We expect

* the ability to conduct high-quality academic research reflected in peer-reviewed highly ranged publications
* high engagement in academic teaching
* strong cooperation skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
* effective communication and leadership skills
* excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English
* participation in academic self-administration

This position is also available on a part-time basis per request.
