The department of computer science is seeking qualified candidates for a professorship in the area of algorithms and complexity, where connection to algorithmic verification is desirable. The position is a tenured professorship at the salary level W2, equivalent to an associate professorship, and is to be filled as soon as possible. Suitable candidates should have a track record of recognized, internationally visible scientific achievements. Research areas of specific interest include, among others: • Quantum Algorithms and Complexity • Randomized Algorithms • Approximate Algorithms • Computational Learning Theory • Complexity Theory • Algorithmic Algebra • Fine-Grained Complexity • Algorithms in connection to formal verification • Algorithms in connection to software engineering ============================================================================== YOUR PROFILE: We expect excellent and internationally visible research performance, expressed through publications of high-rated conferences and journals (e.g., FOCS, STOC, SODA, ICALP, LICS, POPL, PODS, PODC, COLT). In addition to outstanding scientific qualifications, experience in acquiring and implementing third-party funded projects is highly desirable. We expect applicants to outline how their research experiences and future plans will complement or augment existing expertise present at the chairs of the department of computer science and related research institutes at the RPTU campus in Kaiserslautern. Successful candidates are expected to develop independent and creative research programs. Applicants are further expected to have excellent didactic skills and teaching experience. Courses in the Bachelor's program are held in German, while courses in the Master's program are typically taught in English. In particular, we expect candidates to be willing to teach both introductory lectures and advanced courses, especially in the areas of algorithms and complexity, in support of the department's Bachelor and Master programs in Computer Science. Initial knowledge of the German language is optional, but it is expected that professors are able to hold courses in German within 1-2 years after their hiring.
