[DMANET] 2nd AIMMS/MOPTA Optimization Modeling Competition

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we announce the second
AIMMS/MOPTA Optimization Modeling Competition for students. The
competition is organized jointly by the conference organizers of MOPTA
and Paragon Decision Technology (http://www.aimms.com).

The problem involves optimizing a financial portfolio in the presence
of different tax rules.

For more details and registration visit the conference website:
http://mopta.ie.lehigh.edu and follow the link to the competition.

Contact: Imre Polik (mopta@lehigh.edu)

Teams of at most three students can participate. Students with a
background in operations research, regardless of their actual field of
study are eligible.

The teams have to model and solve the optimization problem using AIMMS
(provided to the participants free of charge). The best teams will
compete in the final, taking place at the 2010 MOPTA conference,
August 18-20 at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, USA.

Please encourage your students to patricipate or feel free to use the
competition as a case study in your operations research or financial
optimization class.

Best,
Imre Polik
