TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIP AT LAMSADE, UNIVERSITY
PARIS-DAUPHINE

----------------------------------------------------------------

The Laboratoire d'Analyse et Modelisation de Systemes pour
l'Aide a la Decision (LAMSADE, head Vangelis Th. Paschos) of
the University Paris-Dauphine opens, in September 2012, a
tenure-track assistant professor's position with associated
CNRS Chair, on a profile "Efficient solution of hard
Combinatorial Optimization problems: new models concepts and
tools" which is one of the axes of the research project
"Algorithms with Performance Guarantees" (AGaPe) within the
LAMSADE. Successful candidate will be working mainly on "Exact
computation with provably time complexity upper bounds" on
"Moderately exponential time approximation algorithms" and on
"Parameterized algorithms". We seek for excellent candidates
having strong skills in the aforementioned fields. Other themes
where outstanding applications will also be considered are:
Polynomial approximation, On-line computation, Reoptimization
and Algorithmic games. Applicants should demonstrate their
abilities in conducting original top-level research. An
outstanding doctoral degree and scientific publication record
at the international level are prerequisites for this position.

Applications are due for the mid-February 2012. The selection
committee for this position is expected to decide about
successful applicant by the end of February 2012.

Details for application:

-- Candidates not in a University position either in France or
abroad, have to be qualified by the French Universities
Committee (CNU, http://cnu27.lri.fr/). SUCH QUALIFICATION IS
NOT REQUIRED FOR APPLICANTS ALREADY HOLDING UNIVERSITY
POSITIONS EQUIVALENT TO FRENCH ASSISTANT PROFESSORS). The
French qualification procedure starts on mid-September
(approx.). Results of qualification procedure are expected for
the end of January 2012. Newer information about qualification
procedure will be posted in September 2011, as soon as the the
French Universities Committee will publish the call for 2012.

Teaching requirements: Chair-endowed assistant professorships
are a relatively new status which allows for a reduced teaching
load, corresponding to 1/3rd of the standard load (i.e. 64h,
instead of 192h per academic year). CNRS provides the Chair
endowment for a period of 5 years. Teaching will take place
within several Departments of the University, mainly within the
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (head Ridha
Mahjoub).
