You will ideally have interests in business and marketing analytics (the use of quantitative models to support marketing decisions) to strengthen the department's teaching and research. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, dynamic issues of Marketing Engineering, such as dynamic market response models, modeling the impact of promotions and elasticities, stochastic consumer behavior models, adoption and diffusion modeling, marketing applications in the context of forecasting and time series analysis, or the use of analytical approaches to Market Research or Direct Marketing in general.
Candidates will join an existing group of four academic staff who research and teach this area of work and are responsible for the MSc in Management Science & Marketing Analytics. You should have a relevant PhD, a publication record that demonstrates the potential for international excellence and be comfortable teaching postgraduate students. Staff are expected to conduct internationally excellent academic research, as well as engaging with external organisations in applied industry projects using empirical data.
The department is based at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), a triple-accredited, world-ranked management school, consistently among the UK's top five. Lancaster is among the few leading business schools to combine excellence in research with a student-centred campus, and a full spectrum of undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and executive programmes. Leadership programmes for multinational companies and outreach provision for SMEs are of equal importance to our mission.
The position is at the Department of Management Science, one of the longest established of its type in Europe, and with 35 members of staff and 50+ PhD students one of the UK's largest departments, which spans research on Operational Research, Operations Management, and Systems and Information Management. It is also host to the Lancaster Centre for Forecasting, with frequent industry projects and executive training courses in forecasting, time series prediction and data mining.
A provisional interview date has been set for 7 December however this will be confirmed via email after the shortlisting has taken place.
Informal enquiries should be made to:
